Kelly Preston, actress and wife of John Travolta, dies at 57

Kelly Preston, a Hollywood actress best remembered for her small but potent role as Tom Cruise’s power-hungry ex-fiancee in “Jerry Maguire,” died July 12 at 57.

Her husband, movie star John Travolta, said the cause was breast cancer.

Ms. Preston was long in supporting roles before the commercial and critical success of “Jerry Maguire” (1996) briefly elevated her profile. She went on to play Michael Keaton’s wife in “Jack Frost” (1998) and Kevin Costner’s love interest in the 1999 baseball film “For the Love of the Game.
