Damn, what a damn shame, The Snake will never be forgotten........

Stabler to Biletinikoff, that was the ticket, "stick 'em" on it or not.........there goes one class Act....!!!!

The video says it all..........thanks Vic......

What a touching piece. Can't recall the last time someone was remembered that fondly.

I "loved" Kenny Stabler - and still do.
Always enjoyed and appreciated this swashbuckling leader/ QB.
BELONGS in the HOF - imo
God bless him and may he R.I.P.

Sad to hear about Stabler, As a QB he was nothing special but he was good. And an all around good guy.

As far as HOF, not even close. He finished his career in the top 50 in only 3 categories, Passing TDs (45th) Pass completion % (36th) And top 20 in Interceptions (17th)

Completed passes (53rd)
Pass attempts (55th)
Passing yards (54th

I always like listening to Herm Edwards, He always has a way with words, Herminisms; which inspire and motivate.....NTM- a Hometown Boy Born on the Army Base in Eatontown, NJ.....speaking of The Snake, an Epic Legend,

Ken lost vital playing time in His career, by playing back up to Lamonica and Blanda. He seemed to find a way into the end zone, in ways not even Daryl or George could.......IMHO....

Damn. He invented the cocky long haired QB image. RIP Snake
I was a Raiders fan in the 70's and those Steeler-Oakland games were war. Phil Villapiano (from Long Branch NJ) is legend. Matt 23 has Herm in the same circle

...^^^
Amen

I am so sorry to hear this. Admired how he
would find a way to win. Damn cancer.

listening to mad dog today and he said he would take stabler over rodgers, manning, brady and luck for one game. never got to watch him but i have to question that.

There's certainly some great QBs out there today but it's difficult to judge guys of the past against guys of today. The rules especially for pass interference are completely different. QBs and receivers have such an advantage hence some of the gaudy numbers you have seen in today's game.

Mad Dog's an idiot. Stabler was a good QB but to put him over those names for even one game is just ridiculous.

...I didn't hear the whole Francessa bit but I'm guessing he was referencing what a few people have noted about Stabler, which is that in the crunch when the game is on the line, especially late in the game, he was money.

I loved the days of Stabler to Biletnikoff, regardless of "Stick 'Em" on those outstretched hands........

never heard francessa today. but mad dog honestly loved stabler. he said maybe montana if it was for his life. i understand talk shows are blow hards but the dude has watched a ton of sports and said stabler was unreal with pressure on the line. i have his football cards is as far as my stabler knowledge is. just find it hard not to take brady or rodgers and i hate brady. might be like the running back conversation with campbell, walter etc......

Several Raider's fans aplenty on this message board. I can't think of many Oakland or Stabler Games I ever missed, from the year I moved to California, in 1969, just an hour south of Oakland Alameda and Candlestick.....next 45 yrs in the Mojave Desert, an hour North of L.A. (Stabler's Rookie Year-1970)

Stabler was a must to watch, in his years (1970-1984). Stabler could make comebacks with the best of them, ie Montana, Elway, Marino, both Mannings, Staubach, Young, Unitas. From Oakland, to Houston, to New Orleans, Stabler was properly nicknamed. He had that snake bit way of turning games & opposing teams into prey, and around at the last minute, when all seemed lost.....

I hate Brady too, tho' i hate to use the word hate, so "despise" it is.....

Tho' as its no secret in my book, I've never seen a better QB Lifetime than Joe Cool Montana........and in my own book, no one, I mean no one, even comes close to my loyalty to Montana, as the Greatest ever to play the game, and grace the gridiron.

Bingo!

Not to mention if a defensive player farts too loudly near a QB today, it's a penalty.
Those QBs of the 60s, 70s were having alot of "hats" (helmuts) applied to their bodies- from their heads to their ankles!...and quite a few times coming late after he released the ball without penalties....and that HURTS and often lingers throughout the game.

Combine all of these things and it's almost unfair to the QBs from the 60s and 70s
to compare them with today's QBs. Actually....I think it IS a bit unfair.

Nice going Tote, good find.
Many of "us" kinda knew this about The Snake but didn't quite have all the inside numbers and/or didn't think "we" needed them to make the case for Stabler....some of us just "knew it" watching him during his career while knowing he DID have very good "numbers" and accomplishments.

Did I say "inside numbers" ?
Oops....there I go again with cherry picking.
Quite alright....good going Tote.

Thanks.

Unbelievable, According to the experts his career numbers didn't have him worthy of the hall while he was alive but 48 hours after his death he's made out to be Steve Young, Joe Montana & Dan Marino all rolled into one.

...rick, no one said that.

Was he voted in while? NO!
...rick, no one said that.

My only point being that if they're saying he's worthy of the HOF now why couldn't they of honored the man while he was still alive. I just think its a shame that they waited until his passing to re-think things. JMO.
