Kidd the difference Maker

I was watching inside of the NBA before the Mavs and Cavs game and Charles said something that caught my attention.

He was talking about contenders in the west and he only acknowledged the Spurs. He then said he felt whatever team that trades for Jason Kidd will automatic become a contender.


The Rasheed effect. As many people know it seems that the Pistons became THE team in the East once they made the move for Wallace.

Now I'm not trying to make another where will Kidd go or blah blah I try not to get caught up in all that hype but with teams like Denver Dallas Cavs struggling and teams as the Lakers trying to get stronger Kidd will be heavily sought after.


I won't be surprise if we see back in Dallas only because they can give the Nets more and like the Nets if an improvement is not made will be forced to make a shake up.

Kidd will have a great affect on any team he plays for, but whether team is a contender or not depends on what deal they make for Jason. Now lets say Denver decides to trade Marcus Camby; that's not good. All they were left with is Martin and Nene, and you need a big man to compete.

that is why I personally see Dallas making a move. Dallas is missing veteran leadership. The truth is Dirk is softer than a marshmallow and they are starting to see he can only lead them so far.

I remember Dallas was so desperate for a veteran they offer a retire Reggie Miller a roster spot.

The Mavs can get rid of either point guards and add filler and still have enough.

As Charles said New Jersey will rebuild sooner or later. Dallas will be forced to make a move if they want to compete.

This next month will be an interesting one. The Nets were a disagreement away from rebuilding last year if Thorn gets the right offer he will make a move.

I don't neccesarily think Rasheed alone got them over the hump. Remember Kidd was hurt in that series too. And in that series it could have just as easily gone the Nets way.

You're taking an even bigger risk taking on the Spurs acquiring that one extra player. The 04 Nets were a very good team, but the Spurs as of now are a juggernaut. You only make this move if you are sure you have a chance with Kidd to knock off the Spurs.

You also have to be careful of what you give up. If you look at the Western teams now, Phoenix has Nash, Utah has Deron Williams. The Lakers, Mavericks, and the Nuggets are all teams that could use Jason Kidd and could definetly have a shot but all have complications that would prevent Jason Kidd being traded if the Nets want to get back picks and young talent. Unless the Lakers are willing to give up Bynum (which by now is next to impossible), they're going to have to give up at least Farmar and multiple picks. The Nuggets are devoid of all young talent period, and if they have Kidd their picks aren't going to be worth much. Same with Dallas. It really makes the most sense to trade with Los Angeles, and if the Lakers can keep Bynum or Odom while acquiring Kidd, they just might have a chance to knock off the Spurs.

I don't use the Kidd was hurt excuse because Billups was injured the year before when the Nets swept them. So I am not really big on excuses plus the Nets were up 3-2 and couldn't get it done twice. So no excuses here only results.


i agree with you about the Spurs but the Mavs and other teams will be forced to make a move. Utah is currently struggling right now on and off the court.

Some teams will have to make a move just to make a change.

Also remember Rasheed Pistons beat a Laker team that had Shaq Kobe Malone and Payton

You people are not even Net fans. Why do you care how our best players can help other teams? I don't really give a crap. I want to know what will help the Nets win games, not some other team. Trading Kidd is stupid anyway. Any contender who would trade for him while still maintaining it's contender status would give us some shitty trade that puts us in the gutter for years. Fuck it I won't get into the Kidd-injured in 2004 argument. My sentiments have been made clear before. I don't wanna discredit the Pistons title win in 2004 but the Nets could have just as easily won it that year.

That being said I have a hell of a lot more confidence in Utah than I do in Denver. I think they will turn it around and I don't believe they will trade for Kidd or trade Deron Williams. If they do make a move it might to trade Giricek, but that's about it. I don't want the Nets to trade with Denver for reasons stated above. I really see Los Angeles as the only logical destination if you want to get young players and draft picks, which I hope the front office is trying to do.

Be careful what you say...most "Nets fans" would get pissed over a statement like that.

It's just hypothetical. <u>Not like we're really into trading Kidd</u>...but if it were to ever happen, these are teams that he could really help out.

please I'm not trying to get in any "beef" but I follow your statements on both sites. You never make any sense and you are more concern about Kidd than anything.

I could go on and post more of the famous make no sense post but I won't. No one in here is saying "ooooh i hope kidd goes to this team or that" but acknowledging that Kidd will be heavily pursued by so called contenders. Teams like Dallas might be forced to make a move and give up players they would not normally give up.

So check your emotions at the door. You are only concern about Kidd and not the Nets. So you are the last one to say who is and who isn't a fan. So until you make sense or can discuss a subject without getting emotional go sit at the kids table while the grown ups are talking.
