Letang diagnosed with stroke and will be out at least 6 weeks. Don't like much about the penguins but wish him a speedy recovery

Love to know how they figure the guy is going to be out only 6 weeks. Its a frigen stroke which means possible heart and brain damage.

Al, I think officially its 6 plus weeks but sounds like they do expect him back at some time later this season.

Shero said doctors found a small hole in the wall of Letang's heart during further medical examinations, and that they are seeking to assess if it led to the stroke.

Letang will be re-evaluated after a six-week treatment period. He was given clearance to go on vacation with his family during the NHL's Olympic break.

"I hope that by making my condition public at this time, I can help other people by encouraging them to seek medical help if they experience some of the symptoms associated with a stroke -- regardless of their age or general health," Letang said. "It obviously was a shock to get the news, but I'm optimistic that I can overcome this and get back on the ice."

6 weeks is the bare minimum then re-evaluation..im kinda shocked that he was given clearance to go on vaction

Still, seems like kind of an arbitrary recovery time to throw on a stroke recovery. Not like the guy has a broken arm, a lot of complications at play
