Lakers @ Blazers Game Thread 02/23/11.........

The Blazers got the beneficial calls throughout the course of the game. So what if the Lakers got a few calls down the stretch...they deserved it with they way they were playing. You can't tell me with a straight face that the Lakers didn't get any blown calls during the game either.

Blazers lost this game because they couldn't close down the stretch, or hit free throws. Man up, move on.

I already have, but apparently you chose to ignore the part where I blamed the lack of execution when your originally quoted me.

Matthews is about as good of a defender on Kobe as you can ask for.

I could ask for more then.

Yes I understand that and I pointed out already I blame the lack of execution more than the refs. However, when we should be getting free throws, but don't get them, it can help change a game as well.

When you have a 24 -13 advantage on fouls and a 25-13 free throw advantage, I don't think you should be complaining about the refs. They typically swallow their whistles down the stretch too so it's not like you can really blame them for anything.

What about the blown calls where Aldridge got hammered at the very end of the game? Or that weak foul on Gasol for the and 1 in OT? I am not saying the refs costed us, but they didn't help matters.

What, you mean this? Are you implying the refs should be helping us?

Worried about the Blazers not rebounding from this bad loss and playing a Nuggets team that has something to prove on Friday. Game could be a little shaky.

That said, I'm done for the night. 13:41 until the trade deadline.

Dre's inability to hit an outside shot cause them to drop back a lot on Aldridge. He was facing constant double and triple teams in the fourth. I would have liked to see Roy in there more. I love Dre's game and attitude, but I would be okay with trading him for a PG that can shoot.

Twas a great game as always. YOu were the hottest team in the NBA and put up an amazing fight. I'll be bowing out now before maxiep has a heart attack. See ya'll next month I believe.

Dude, just flicking you a little shit. It's all in good fun. DaRizzle knows the score.

Where the hell has Rizzle been? Does he still creep around here?

On my way home from the game. Man was it fun to be at. Oir team showed a lot of heart but when lma and Andre aren't hitting we need others to be able to step up at the end of games.

Wouldn't mind Gerald Wallace right now. He could show Batum a thing or two about not attempting so many threes and instead, driving it in and grabbing the boards.

Andre: 7 points (3-10 shooting), 7 assists, 5 boards, 5 TOs.

I find it hard to believe we can't upgrade from that.

I think phiL Jackson understands how to play Miller; keep somebody who is at least as tall as him in his face all the time when he has the ball. Miller loves to stand out on top with the ball in his hands calmly surveying the scene, looking for someone to clear or a lob to set up. He does not pass well off his dribble.

Yeah, WTF happened to Bynum? He looked like Kwame out there.

Bynum ain't happy in this offense. He worked his ass off last game on the defensive end, altered about 10 shots, blocked 3, grabbed 15 boards and the offense only rewarded him with 3 shots.

The knee injuries have really taken a toll on Bynum's explosiveness and speed. Factor that in with him being frustrated with his offensive touches and lack of PT when it matters and his head just is not in the game right now. When he plays like he cares, he has a major impact on the game (see the ATL game). I really think something needs to be done this off-season because he's too expensive of a player to have around as a role player.

Our role players lost us the game in the 4th.

-Wesley tried to go 1v1 way too much and forced the ball up
-Batum couldn’t hit a three in the fourth. You look at the box score and say “Hey batum scored over 20”. But then you see that he shot below 40% and many of those looks were wide open.
-Rudy didn’t get a lot of looks due to the lakers closing out hard
-Miller was almost a non-factor scoring wise.

Bottom line LA forced someone else besides Adridge to beat them and nobody did.

The Lakers board on here must be crackin right now....

Just recovered from all the beer I drank last night so I could scream from the 300 level and be heard. It looked to me like the team did not believe it could win this game. While they were having some fun on the court, they just didn't look to me like they believed they could actually win.

The 4th quarter of the game last night looked eerily similar to the Suns playoff series last year. They contained LMA and the rest of thew squad was more than happy to settle for ill-advised jumpers.

I like that Roy can still create his own shot at will.

It would have been nice to have him playing the two-man game late in the 4th instead of watching Bryant double-team LMA while Miller had the ball at the 3-point line.

It was PHX all over again, and it's why Miller won't ever be able to beat a team with a solid defender with length as a ball dominant PG.

That said, he had some awesome passes last night.

Did anybody else have fun watching the Rudy/Roy/Wes/Batum/LMA line-up? I know people don't like +/-, but Roy was +8 in his 16 minutes, and the big line-up was by far the most effective that I saw (IMO, of course).

Exactly. He's great against bad defenders, but when a team out the screws to him he's shockingly ineffective.

Since the Blazers couldn't hit their jump shot, it would have been nice to see them run some cutters in the lane. The offense seemed fairly uncreative in the 4th.

That game went down just like the HEAT game!
