Lance Bass Comes Out the Closet

*NSync, whose members included Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez, had hits like "I Want You Back," "Bye Bye Bye" and "Tearing Up My Heart" and was at the forefront of the 1990s "boy band" craze. The group went on hiatus in 2002.

Bass told People he had not previously revealed he was gay because he feared it would hurt the band's popularity and the careers of his bandmates.

"I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything," Bass said.

Bass said the reason he wanted to come out in public now is that rumors "really were starting to affect my daily life. Now it feels like it's on my terms."

The People issue with the Bass story, which his spokesman verified, hits newsstands on Friday.

I remember watching a show once back in the day where it said that the alleged Lance Bass was dating Topanga from Boy Meets World. Topanga of course being many of our boyhood fantasies along with Kelly Kapowski. Hearing this I gave Lance major props and never questioned he was gay. Hell, he was in that movie where he chased around Emmanuelle Chriqui who is also bonable.

What are all your reasons you thought he was gay? Being in a boy band yes there is a good chance... but Lance wasn't really flamboyant in the band, he kept to himself in the background (although that might have been the key to his homosexuality as most of the songs were about girls).

Now, there is no way that every boy band member is gay. Justin Timberlake is a prime example, he is the biggest pimp on the planet. The dude bangs Britney Spears, Alyssa Milano, and rumored to bang friggin Janet Jackson? The guy is all over the place macking b****es. Nick Carter from Backstreet Boys is fat as hell now and he gave it to Paris Hilton (who hasn't but still). Nick Lachey doing it to Jessica Simpson, the list goes on.

And AJ from Backstreet Boys had a coke habit... only straight guys have coke habits cmon.

So anyways, yes Lance is a raging homosexual... but you can't all say that you were CERTAIN he was gay. If I were to pick someone from NSync to be gay it would be Chris.

^ I agree that the excessive boyband bashing is pretty juvenile. Frankly, I don't think boybands ever left, they just taken on different forms (mainstream"punk" rock groups & even some those corny southern rap groups too).

But being completely serious, there was something about Lance Bass that just screamed gay. Not only did he look gay (his "clean" look and somewhat girly smile) but he also sounded gay too. And most importantly for me, he didn't really seem like he fit in with the rest of the group. It's like he was on a different page than everyone else. And this is common when you see a gay guy trying to mingle with a group of heterosexual males, they tend to be more reserved than normal.

If people truly think that most boyband members are gay, then there's something wrong with them. Being in a successful boyband guarantees that you'll have thousands of females all over you. And that's probably the number one reason they join these groups, so it's not very likely that you'll see too many homosexual boyband members.

Yea, that tidbit of mine was more of a sarcastic/whatever comment. Of course not all people that do drugs are straight or gay for that matter. Just giving AJ a faux alibi because he has homosexual tendencies of his own.
