Marcus Landry poured in 27 points and added eight rebounds, lifting Reno to its fifth-straight win and a share of the Western Conference lead, as the ‘Horns coasted to a 97-82 victory over Sioux Falls on Saturday night inside the Sioux Falls Arena.
The Bighorns (31-16) have won five-straight games overall and 16 of their last 20. Tonight's win-coupled with Rio Grande Valley's win over Tulsa-puts Reno and Rio Grande Valley in a tie atop the Western Conference with just three games to play. The Western Conference champion is guaranteed the second overall seed and the opportunity to pick their opponent in the first round of the NBA Development League playoffs.
With his 27-point effort tonight, Landry now has eclipsed the 25-point plateau six times this season. Bobby Simmons (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Patrick O'Bryant (12 points, 13 rebounds) added double-doubles for the Bighorns, who held their opponent under 85 points for the third-straight game.
O'Bryant has recorded double-doubles in three-straight games and four of his last five, while Simmons notched his third double-double in his last four contests. Jeremy Lin, on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, added 10 points and eight rebounds for Reno.
Sioux Falls (10-37) was led by Sean Marshall's 15 points and 12 rebounds. Keaton Grant and Stephen McDowell scored in double figures off the bench for the ‘Force, chipping in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bighorns return home on Tuesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. against the Austin Toros, before playing host to the Bakersfield Jam on Friday, April 1, for Fan Appreciation Night. Friday's tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
