Was KC and Oakland Owner Charlie Finley a Madman or a Genius???

I'd say he was half of each.

Here's what Charlie did to Municipal Stadium, Kansas City, in 1964-

Finley wanted same distance from RF to home plate as Yankee Stadium (296'); but a new rule in 1958 required the span to be no less than 325', so Charlie got cute and tried to skirt the rule seen here with K.C. Pennant Porch.

Talk about skirting the line of sanity; or Foul Territory vs in-play. Finley got his 295 corner alright. The strangest move to any park imo....
