I love Leonard as a prospect, I was advocating we draft him well before it was evident that we were, but I'm concerned about his temper this year. Its one thing that he gets upset with himself for picking up ticky tack fouls. But I'm more worried that once some of the veteran big men in the league start seeing him get frustrated that they will exploit it. I see it happen with young bigs all too often. I wish a guy like Kurt Thomas or Camby were still around to help ease the transition for him.

The first thing I thought of reading your post was how Przybilla used to get under Tyson Chandler's skin and take him out of his game. I would not be shocked to see someone do the same to Leonard.

Or he could just punch LeBron in the face.... and I'd be okay with that.

I don't see a problem with that, 3 game suspension and 50k fine but he will be remembered by blazer fans everywhere for years because of it.

And Leonard....... smash.

I give up... youtube won't imbed for some reason. Tried three different videos.

Did he throw a tantrum or something? I can't see videos at work, so if someone would be kind enough to post a description I'd be grateful...

I think it's something guys will just have to learn. Camby or Thomas can tell him 1200 times to look for something, or not let something bother him, but it's still going to until he learns to control it. I'm ok with that. He'll work through it this year and figure it out.

frankly I am glad he has a temper, yeah it may take him some time to channel it and use it to his advantage, but IMO that will happen and a guy who plays with an "attitude" is a guy who IMO will be good, especially as he has the raw skills IMO

It's not his temper that has people worried, it's his mental toughness:

Lol, I heard on Courtside that he is a huge Bieber fan and went to see him in concert on Monday.

If true, I'm sure he can put up with guys like KG just fine.

When defending the low paint early on he alternated between not engaging in enough contact/motion and making too much...the result being buckets for the opponent or fouls for Leonard. When he calmed down in the second half Leonard did more things right and ended up registering a great game, especially for a rookie. The trick for Portland's rookie center will be not letting older, stronger, bigger, wiser, and meaner opponents take him out of his game and back into that deer-in-the-headlights phase.

"A Goal for me in the future is being as skilled as Pau Gasol in the Post" (1:20)

Man after last night, I'd say that's looking like an obtainable goal.

The only evidence I know of a temper is that when he came to Portland right after the draft, he got annoyed by a local reporter's dumb questions. He always looks like he's red-faced and close to crying, which may derive from exerting self-control over this temper which we suppose he has. I'd like to hear of more incidents before accepting its existence as fact.

I don't get it. Please explain.

When you point out his flaws, a Christian smugly answers with condescension, "I'm not perfect, just Christian" or "I'm not perfect, just forgiven." Christianity says that no matter how wicked you've been all your life, if you accept Christ on your deathbed, you go to Heaven. And if you've lived an exemplary life but don't accept Christ, you go to Hell.

(Similarly, Jews believe they're the Chosen People. If I knew more about other religions, I'd be able to nail them to the Cross here, too.)

Someone's done their evangelism well...couldn't have said it better myself. Other than "smugly" and "with condescension". Christianity also says that there's no such thing as an "exemplary" life good enough for you to be in the presence of God without Jesus.

Okay. Thanks for clarifying. You guys seem to understand part of it, just don't like it. That's okay. Personally, I like not having to worry about how much "exemplary" is enough to determine my destiny.

To the OP, I didn't think Leonard got out of sorts. He seemed to get lost a couple times, but came back strong without distraction.
