NoThis franchise has never had one before!! Well, I guess if you count the almost Turkoglu signing and the eventual Andre Miller signing.
Every year is big and almost every year we lose out on our targets: Turkoglu, Hibbert, Hawes, Kanter, Aldridge, etcI've never been more pumped to get to it. I can't recall a bigger free agency than this one. :MARIS61: :MARIS61:

And of those, we dodged more bullets than someone at the OK Corral.
No, this one is bigger than all those. Period, it's not even close.
I agree.. And its not bigger because its a bigger pool of FA's. Its bigger because this can dictate the franchises direction for the next handful of years. What happens this FA is HUGE for the Blazers future.

I think we will bring every RFA back and sign a couple value pieces like Marvin Williams and In Mahinmi so that we have more assets to assets to trade at deadline. We could do a 3-for-1 trade and still have lots of depth. Problem would be finding minutes for everyoneI'm curious if we do strike out on Horford and Whiteside or if they simply aren't interested are we then going to go after the Howards and Biyombos or simply wait until the trade deadline. I can't get a good read on the team's direction if options A don't work.

Lillard (36)
McCollum (35) / Crabbe (25)
Aminu (24) / Harkless (24)
Williams (22) / Davis (18)
Mahinmi (23) / Plumlee (18) / Leonard (15)
We'd probably trade Plumlee or Davis for a 1st if we signed some role players, as wed still have an asset for a big trade (draft pick instead of Plumlee), but we would also have less depth so we could play guys more.
Yup. We need another star though. Teams think that the only way to get a star in free agency is to sign them. But if you sign good players on solid contracts, then you'll have enough assets to get a star via trade down the road. Asset Acquisition. We need to get as many assets as possible.Yeah I'm starting to wonder if while everyone is distracted by the Durant's and Horford go after the Mahinmi's, andWilliams, and Delledovas/lins of the NBA.

We traded Byron Irvin and a future 1st for Ainge.Didn't we sign Danny Ainge as a FA the summer of 90. That was a pretty big signing.
I fully expect Neil to strike out ....again.
I think he'll focus on some under the radar guys like he did last year.
I'm not sure how long he can do this though. As solid as Aminu/Harkless were they are mediocre starters.
This team needs a legitimate third scorer.
$8M is like $10 or $11M now, but other than that great post! This is the most interested i'v been in FA in a long time. Even more so then last year. Last year was all about what one big name FA would do for us and then the fallout of what would happen afterwords, this year there is money everywhere its almost like Oprah came and started pointing towards teams "you have MAX FA money, you have MAX FA money". Historically the league has show if you give teams money they will spend it and with that tons of money comes bad contracts given out left and right.
This year its about the whole league and having fun seeing what teams overpay who and what role players are suddenly paid like stars even if its the same % of the cap they go before but 8m last year is basically 13m this year it does seem like such big differences for a player like Crabbe. I don't expect us to go out and get a big FA or two so i'm interested in the bargain bin hunting that NO will most definitely be a part of this year and how much of the league is going to also be trying to get bargains instead of paying Bismac 4/80M.
Didn't we sign Danny Ainge as a FA the summer of 90. That was a pretty big signing.
Curious as to what you find so funny about this? Do you think he will land a top tier FA? Do you think he won't be able to add a mid level guy?
