There are a lot of things to tackle here... First, while it's certainly easy to play Monday morning QB, there's also a lot of tough decisions that had to be made, and really all of them could lead to people dying early.
There seem to be a few extremes the shut everything down, martial law for a month types but there are a plethora of ways that, that can lead to death too. People need groceries, and medicine, people have mental health issues, going a month or two where those things aren't addressed would cost lives too. We're already seeing a rise in suicides as a result of the measures that have been put in place. They're talking about food shortages this fall because of a lack of workers.
Then there are the ones who want to just pretend nothings happening, which of course can and will cost lives too.
I'd say there has been a display of lack of leadership, and clarity from the government at all levels, would that be different with Hillary? I doubt it, but I don't know.
I can guarantee you though, if something like this occurred on her watch, republicans would be attacking her every move much the way democrats are attacking Trumps.
COVID19 isn't the only danger out there to lives, we need to remember that when were shouting to shut down society, that decision has consequences too, and I am honestly not sure if they are worse than the virus itself, but they need to be weighed.
I don't really think anyone at any level of government domestic or foreign has handled this to perfection, but obviously some have done better than others.
What I find extremely fascinating is how many have lost sight of China's role in all of this while we deal with it here.
