A friend took shooting over the weekend. Had fun, it's been a long time but there is a visceral response to shooting. We had 7 handguns to shoot ranging from 22's to a 44. My favorite was a glock, forget the caliber, but about same size as a 9mm. It just seemed very comfortable and easy to get on target repeatedly. Also had fun with the 1911 just from a nostalgia point of view, it's what everyone carried on TV growing up.

Anyway, for all you who think I'm anti-firearm, I'm not. I just think registration is a good idea.

Get your finger off the trigger! ;)

I've had the chance to shoot a little as well. A Glock, an Uzi SMG with a stock, an AK-47 and a 12-gauge shotty. Having never used a shotgun before my shoulder was a little sore afterwards. I tried to position my feet and lean and dig the stock into my shoulder but it still gave me a good kick every time.

I'd never hunt but I'll tear up targets any day.

I never have, don't know if i will or could, but as long as the animals are being eaten I have no problem with it. I think it's more humane than how most cows are treated. At least those wild animals live a normal life until the moment of impact. And wild animals never die from old age anyway, it's just a matter of what takes you down, a mountain lion, an infection, ... Hunting, at least hunting of adult animals, just dips into that pool.

That being said, i felt terrible the first hunk of times I had to harvest a mouse for an experiment, so I don't really know if I would be able to pull the trigger on bambi. I have no problem with it as long as it done responsibly, just not sure if it's for me.

However, I actually think it's good for people to fully grasp where meat comes from, so I would like to go on a hunt at some point, even if I don't pull the trigger. Still, help gut and skin it, and carry out the pieces. Not now, but someday. maybe. in a while. someday. maybe.

(edit: my fingers are behind the triggers, not on them. Also, they are unloaded in that pick, no clips and none in the chamber. )
