Tulsa forward Glory Johnson had just put in a layup with no time left on the clock in overtime Friday night, a bucket that seemingly tied the score.

As the officials studied the replay, which was being shown over and over on the video board in the Prudential Center, the Liberty players were riveted.

Their coach, Bill Laimbeer, was not.

Greaseboard in hand, the former Pistons bad boy was all businessman. He snapped his players out of their video gazing revelry by barking, “Come here, sit down,’’ said guard Essence Carson.

“With point five to go they were all celebrating that the game was over and I’ve been in many games like that before where you end up losing,’’ Laimbeer. said “So I was going to get them to concentrate.’’

Laimbeer got his first win as Liberty coach, 78-76 in OT, when the referees ruled Johnson’s layup, off an out of bounds play did not beat the buzzer. The Liberty, playing in their home opener, evened their record at 1-1 while the Shock dropped to 0-3.
