The deck was very much stacked against the Liberty heading into yesterday’s game against the undefeated Atlanta Dream.
On Friday night, the Libs lost to Atlanta by 19 points in the road segment of a home-and-home. During that game, Essence Carson — one of the Liberty’s best players — tore her left ACL, ending her season.
But if five games have shown anything this season, it’s the Liberty are a gritty, resilient team determined to protect its home court.
Using a suffocating defense and a clutch fourth quarter from Cappie Pondexter, the Liberty (3-2) erased an eight-point third-quarter deficit to record a 76-67 victory over the Dream in front of 5,933 at Prudential Center in Newark. They improved to 3-0 at home.
