While sitting on the Blazers’ plane the other night during a snowstorm, Lillard filmed himself singing a rap song featuring the N-word. My question is, how is that any different from Meyers Leonard using a racial epithet for Jews? Leonard, in fact, said he didn’t know what the word meant, but Lillard clearly knows what the N-Word means. Why did Leonard get roundly attacked for his mistake while Lillard gets no criticism at all?

Is Meyers Jewish?

Did Dame use a hard R? He also said the F word. Where's the outrage?!

Seems obvious: Meyers is much taller, yet not as good at basketball.

barfo

This was such an odd way of saying that Meyers was a victim of black people unfairly having the advantage of using the N word when I can't!

Your play at ignorance is weak. You know very well what the difference is.

When African Americans use the word it is not a racial epithet. Lillard and every other black person has every right to say it.

Meyers Leonard used a Jewish slur. And no, Jewish people don't use said slur. They haven't reclaimed it like the black community has the other. The Jewish people would prefer it just not be used.

I was born and raised a Catholic and I trash Catholics on a regular basis (usually gleefully). Hey, we're actually a humorous bunch in general. As far as I'm concerned, I have the right because I lived it. But that doesn't mean I'm okay with non Catholics trashing Catholics, because they usually do so out of ignorance or hatred. I tend to believe Dame (and black people in general) use the N word for similar reasons. They have earned the right. White people have not. They almost always use the N word intentionally as a slur. Or at least that's my take on this "controversy"........making something out of nothing.......

Yes, they do, but it’s a huge mistake. Black and white kids grow up listening to Rap and hearing Rap singers use what they’ve been told is the most hateful word in the English language to describe themselves. This just perpetuates the racist, negative attitudes that blacks have been fighting against for generations.

Not your business.

We never heard Steve Blake use the N word on any of his raps!

For hundreds of years white people used the "N" word to make black people uncomfortable....some still do...at some pt after the Civil Rights movement of the 60s...black people took the word back and owned it which ironically makes white people uncomfortable today. Karma is a bitch. Lots of rap lyrics make me uncomfortable like bitch, ho, etc...references to street violence. I don't listen to rap or buy rap records for the same reason I don't buy Grand Theft Auto video games....it's out of my lane. I believe in the right to choose so I make choices about what I consume...I understand where these things come from but rap is like Chinese Opera to me....not something that I find entertaining. I'd rather read Maya Angelou or Langston Hughes. Choices.

Read this, it will help.

Both my parents grew up Catholic. In devoutly Catholic homes. My dad has 5 siblings my mom has 7 siblings. Not a single kid is currently a Catholic on either side.

My wife grew up in a strong Catholic household and went to Catholic school in North Portland from 1st-12th. She has a strong disdain for anything that has to do with organized religion.

Somewhere along the way, the Catholic religion has really fucked up.

We used to go to mass growing up on Christmas Eve and Easter. Church seemed clique-ey. My dad would walk around shaking hands and saying hi to people of his childhood.

I’ll never understand organized religion

Same here (minus the growing up in a catholic household, etc). I've never understand nor will I understand, the pull behind being in a cult.

Oh man, I want to know how that ends. That lady is exactly whats wrong with our country. And I am willing to bet you the house that I don't own, that I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, who she voted for.

It's hilarious how racist people will always project....er, I mean, accuse others of being racist.

That stupid cow didn't realize that she was being recorded. I hope she gets what she fucking deserves.
