Injured Pacers swingman Mike Dunleavy is one of 20 NBA players helping financially with the Japanese recovery effort from the recent earthquake and tsunami.

Dunleavy, who is sidelined with a broken thumb, has committed to make a donation. Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook are among players donating $1,000 for every point they score in games played between Friday through Sunday.

The donations will go to Direct Relief's Japan Relief and Recovery Fund, which provides immediate health needs for people in Japan.

Watch him pull Sheed and turn down passes. :)

Naw, I know LA wouldn't do that.

That is great of him and the other players doing that.

Dang. That's $25k per game.

But to demonstrate how damned amazing NBA contracts are, if he did that for every regular season game this year he'd be forfeiting less than 1/4 of his salary.

All those players I already respected, and now I respect them even more.

Mills is donating $100 to Australian flood victims for every turnover.

I think LA is just doing this for the OKC game Sunday.

ALDRIDGE TO DONATE TOWARDS JAPANESE RELIEF
Fifth-year pro pledges $1,000 for every point he scores March 27 at Oklahoma City

PORTLAND, Ore. – Trail Blazers forward/center LaMarcus Aldridge has pledged to donate $1,000 for every point he scores against the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 27 to Direct Relief International’s Japan Relief and Recovery Fund.

Aldridge joins Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Al Horford, JaVale McGee, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook in donating $1,000 for every point they score in select games from March 25-27. An additional 13 players have committed to donate a set amount.

Aldridge leads the Trail Blazers in scoring this season, averaging 22.2 points through 71 games. He has scored 30-plus points eleven times, including two games of 40-plus points.

Formed with the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Direct Relief’s Fund supports the immediate health needs of people by working with local authorities best situated to assess, respond, and prepare for the long-term recovery.

Direct Relief has already provided emergency funds for the provision of emergency materials for thousands of displaced persons in 20 facilities throughout Miyagi prefecture, with special attention being paid to the needs of those with disabilities and the elderly.

You better tell him that SI is saying that he's doing for all games this weekend.

Maybe Roy should pick up the tab for what LMA scores tonight, lol.

If he did it tonight, then he is one cheap bastard!

how cool would it be to see him go off for 50! i really hope he does, that would be a great news story as well
