Bringing Magloire would be great. He was an all-star not so long ago and he still has the talent to be one. He's a top 10 center in the league, and he would bring the low post presence we really need right now. Trading Collins a 2nd round pick for him would be a steal, and even if the pick was 1st round it would be a decent trade, because we already basically have our "future" in Williams, Adams, Boone, Illic, Krstic, etc. We have enough youth. We need a player who can make an impact NOW.

As for Haywood, he would also be great. He's a good defender in the post and would be a nice all around addition. His only minus is his terrible free throw shooting.

Interesting trade offer. I guess Jamaal would be a definite upgrade over Collins but is he worth a first round pick?

I guess any big man we can get is better than Collins.


I'm actually pretty neutral on this trade. If it happens, then it's good, if it doesn't well then I won't lose any sleep either.

Maglorie is overrated IMO. Beside his All-Star season, the guy has never really put up any good numbers. Even in his All-Star season, the guy wasn't really at all dominant, it was just that the East had little star-caliber centers. If I were the Nets, I would not trade a first round pick for him. It is not worth it. The guy is a decent player, but nothing special. You also have to realize that this is his contract year, so you may be trading away Jaron Collins and a first for a 1 year rental, which is definetly not worth it, especially since I think there will be a great chance Maglorie returns to the Raptors after this season

its jason collins, and how can magloire return to that raports if he never played for them???

and if its a second round pick id do it a first maybe cause this years draft isnt to deep, `and who cares if its a one year rental jason collins is buns

Typo. You're right. Jamaal Magloire never played for the Raptors, but his hometown is Toronto, and many have speculated that he will sign with the Raptors in the off-season to return to his hometown. I would make the trade as well if it was for a second, but I doubt the Blazers would accept since they will have to take on Jason Collin's contract. The Blazers are in rebuilding mode, and may be looking for young players and expiring contracts. To trade a first round pick for Magloire is just stupid IMO, and what are you talking about this draft not being deep? Everyone has said that this will be a deep draft. Magloire is not worth a first round pick, unless you are talking about a very low first round pick, which I doubt the Nets can get considering how poorly they have been playing lately. Again, this is just purely my opinion, but you don't trade away a high draft pick for a one-year rental for someone like Jamaal Magloire

That first rounder's really going to hurt, especially if its from this year's draft. I'm not very high on Magloire, but he will bring you guys what you desperately need. It'd give you one of the best starting 5 in the league, instead of just having 3 great players. Whether its worth taking a chance on a guy who could very well bolt after this year, is still up in the air.

They won't get the first rounder if this deal is done. Jason hasn't been himself and just seems more like a black hole as of late...But then again, Jamaal sat out an entire season once for a broken finger..ridiculous. There should be plenty of big men that we might be able to draft that could prove more than Jamaal does. Such as Josh McRoberts (if he continues to be inconsistent-then again he could stay in college one more year), Tyler Hansbrough will get underrated and probably slip below where he should be cause he'll have that 'undersized and unathletic' label, Aaron Gray, Roy Hibert. Hell even Big Baby might be better than Jamaal at this point. I pray that Al Horford drops to our range, but I doubt it. I actually think he's better than Joakim Noah.

lol, the slowest man in the NBA, not sure how much he would help you. He would bring more rebounding than Collins, though Collins does help by boxing out, but Magloire can box out and grab 10 boards a game. Also as long as he isn't demanding touches and turning the ball over, he gives more positive offensvie impact than Collins.

Not nearly as good a man to man defender, but Collins can't really guard the quick PF's well anyways', and Magloire could make up forcing Krstic to guard PF's by playing well in other areas in compaison to Collins.
