MAJOR Computer Problem

Whats up fellas?

Ok so yesterday when I turned on my laptop, I noticed some of my desktop icons missing. I was like ok, no big deal. So then I checked to see if my files were there and BAM...nothing is there. All of my programs and any folders that I created are still there, but none of my files like word docs, mp3 files, any saved file....even my saved game data for Madden and stuff. All gone. The computer didn't crash or anything (as far as I know) and nothing strange appeared either. I tried a system restore and still nothing was there. I scanned for viruses as well and no viruses showed up. It's just bizarre...everything down to my favorites on Internet Explorer are gone too. I need help!!

Here's what I'm running:

AMD Athlon 64 processor
Windows XP (home edition)
512MB ram, 80gb hdd.

Maybe someone changed all your files to hidden.

And your current folder options do not show hidden files.

lol I'm just guessing. It would be probably easier to have someone who knows computers to look at it.

Yeah...I chatted with a "Technician" at HP's website. He didn't help much at all. Just asked me to do a virus scan and if the issue still exists, come talk to us again. I'm gonna have to get after these fools, it's still under warranty.

I thought about the files being hidden as well...I gotta check that out, but no one uses my laptop really...and it happened overnight. Someone must have snuck into my room and deleted all my shi* while I was sleeping!

^^ Well if they deleted all the windows files then windows shouldn't run properly. Can you see your windows folder and the files within it?

If you are comfortable maybe you could either post a screenshot of your folders in this thread or pm me with one.

^Alright...I'll do that when I get home tonight.

Edit:I believe all the windows files are there, just the things I created, like homework stuff and music and all that. I'll double check though.
