Who's watched it? It's on Netflix - watch it now. Makes me like every member of that Pacers team and feel even more annoyed at Whitsitt for not just letting Brian Grant go and getting a new coach who would play Jermaine.

Terrific doc. Good to get the full perspective. Painful reminders of the Jermaine trade aside, definitely worth a watch.

Completely forgot Freddie Jones was on the Pacers, let alone on the court when this happened!

Every one of the Pacers comes across as very thoughtful. I never liked Reggie much before this, but this won me over. Note Captain Jack's use of "Fam!" as he yells as he's just run the gauntlet of beer and popcorn (and worse). And I really feel for Jermaine. But Artest is definitely the star. He doesn't look a day older (except for slightly softer arms) and I truly hope he can keep calming his demons. That interview where he's just won a championship and all he can talk about is how he feels like he's a coward who deserted the Pacers is wrenching.

I still don't know why Jermaine had to punch that guy, it's not like Artest needed his help against a guy half his height and twice his width. Personally I felt JO (one of the producers) came off like we were supposed to feel so bad for him but when they tried to make him out to being "on the way to being one of the greats of the game" was too much.

Artest def was the star of the show, just watching him being led off the court with that vacant look in his eye. The guy was clueless in what was actually going on and seemed to totally black out once he laid down on the table and went into his 'count to 5' strategy. I agree the best part of the entire doc to me was his interview after the Lakers won and he talked about how bad he felt for the other guys.

Reggie was Reggie and it was hard not to feel for him, the guy is one of the top 10 all-time in the 'retired without a ring' category.

I never liked Stephen Jackson and feel even more so after watching it. He wasn't the biggest jackass in the entire piece though (might have even been 4th behind Jim Gray and Doughney) but the top spot goes to the beer thrower. Watching him in interviews after the fact and the guy had zero remorse.

I watched it and thought it was pretty good.
Wasn't Billups on the floor when it happened?
Someone should have kicked the fan's ass who through the can.
Im glad the fan that walked onto the court to take on Peace got knocked own. Punk
Security there was a joke.

I thought the fat guy that walked onto the court ate that punch well. Don't remember him even being rocked by it. Did he actually got KOed?
I meant to say knocked down but maybe it was more like knocked back. I know Jermaine through a punch that missed luckily, it could have been bad had he connected.

See Kermit Washington for example.

Kermit lived right next to my grandparents. My grandpa said he was one of the nicest dudes.

Doesn't seem like a great dude nowadays.

Blazers need a Rodman or Artest type player on the roster.
Totally. We need an enforcer type. Rodman is one of my favorite players of all time. Have a framed and signed picture of him from his time on the Bulls on my wall.

I miss having a guy like Joel Przybilla. I was at the game when Joel and Kobe almost fought.

Bigs now are soft as charmin.

Draymond Green is probably the closest thing to those guys nowadays. Zach Collins had the potential till injuries happened. Marcus smart is another good one but doesn’t fit the roster with the way how it constructed right now. Maybe Little can become that guy or Greg brown

Wow! Thanks for letting me know about this Netflix documentary! Very well done. I remember it all and back then I just couldn’t believe Stern’s actions. Worse yet, when he states the vote was unanimous, “1 to nothing.” Arrogance all in the name of the league and its image. But what about the safety of the players?

I don’t think the same thing would go down today. I hope that this whole mess will never happen again. But with what i see happening (daily) in Portland, Seattle, New York, San Francisco and Chicago - it won’t be long before we see something similar happen again. What a shame.

False equivalency *clap clap clapclapclap*

You meant “false equivalence”
?

Allow me to clarify by saying that my comments were my opinion. I’m cool with agreeing to disagree with yours. I find no need to clap about it really.

My man Tinsley was the ultimate instigator of the whole thing, telling Ron to get his foul!

I've been wracking my brains trying to think of who'd be the closest to an Artest type. Here are the candidates:
Draymond: great, but not crazy, so therefore GS would never get fed up with him and trade him
Jimmy Butler: even closer, but locked up by Miami
Marcus Smart: now you're talking. Not as big as Artest, but super stocky and super-strong. Not as crazy, but he's got a bit of a crazy streak. Like Artest, you don't really know what you'll get on offense, which is probably why apparently Brad Stevens is open to moving him.
The dream: get him for DJJ and maybe Anfernee? Picks? Unlikely, though - he's one of the most popular Celtics among the fans.
But what if it took CJ? I wasn't really joking when I posted this in the other thread, but just openly wondering.

Better: what if we could somehow get Smart and Larry Nance Jr. for CJ? That would help Chauncey improve our defense...

We'd definitely be a better defensive team, but we'd probably struggle to score, unless Anfernee suddenly jumps to 20 ppg or something.

Pritchard just got 92 points in the Portland Summer League Saturday night!
