People are leaving boxing for MMA because it's younger and more exciting. And I agree with them. Boxing has always been corrupt though. In fact in the 30's and 40's it was outright thievery. But boxing didn't suddenly go through a period of outright fair play and then get progressively worse.
There are still some amazing boxers in boxing but MMA takes over. Has room for the casual mma fans who love knockouts and brawls and the hardcore mma fans who like to break down the technicality of it and love the styles of different fights, weaknesses and strengths. Boxing just progressively gets worse

Fake News

Yeah I hate when ESPN guys talk about MMA, shits cringe to hear them talk about mcgregor like they know. Shit does happen in MMA from time to time. Difference is it's 3, 5 minute rounds, title fights and main events, 5, 5 minute rounds. There have definitely been bad decisions but it's not like it happens all the time, most of the time decisions end up right

Floyd probably gives all the judges handies before the fights.
It just doesn't work with floyd because he is the best defensive boxer ever. He doesn't knock guys out. That's why I think the whole leave it to the judges thing is kinda bullshit. Floyd doesn't play that game. Same with some fighters in mma. Heavyweights in the ufc however swing for the fences and some fighters do have a rep for knocking others out or finishing TKO. Look at GSP, he always went the distance. That's just how some fighters are, but for sure in some cases when the fight is close, guys need to put the pressure on to make sure they win so in that case I agree

Dude it isnt the same. Gsp laid on top of dudes after getting knocked out by serra. Of course they are gonna give it to a guy that wrestlefucks someone. Gsp was amazing. But his style got way more defensive as he got older and he made it so he won 50-45 most fights.

I cant tell you how many times i have seen an mma fight with guys that actually stood up where it made no sense when it went to the judges.

I understand boxing is different but it absolutely still happens.

Point is, finish your fight if you dont want that to happen.

Entertaining fight! I was rooting for Horn, but think Manny won the fight.
Teddy Atlas was horrible. He almost ruined a great fight because he wouldn't shut up. He obviously has a huge man crush on Manny. He didn't give Horn any credit.
Love that it was free on ESPN.

Another thing. Home cookin'

Don't leave it in the judges hands in your opponents country.

Belfort vs marquadt and bisping vs silva are examples of controversial mma fights where the victor was the countryman they fought in.

Huh? Teddy Atlas? I thought that was Lamar Hurd....

when the fight is close I agree but most often fights don't get to that point and the right decision is made if it goes to decision. belfort one was bad, silva one was debatable. I am the biggest anderson silva fan but not sure if he got it done in that fight, very close though

well, this was fucked.

havent seen anyone (of any note) come close to agreeing with the 117-111 judge.

if its not against us, i dont mind seeing the aussies win, but even they know this was utter bullshit

I think we have a few Aussie fans that come on this board from time to time. I would like to know what the mood is down there. They are some of the fairest people I have ever met.

Not sure how many Kiwis you'll find that agree with that. Lol. Me personally, I like them both. Have met some great people too....

Well. I am sure if it is the All Blacks vs The Wallabies, the word fair would get thrown out the window.

TBH with how garbage australia has been at rugby over the last few years, the only way itd be a fair competition is if we played 13 or 14 people to their 15.
even then its 50/50

No idea. Only really watch AFL and occasional NZ rugby league teams from time to time. I haven't seen many test matches lately.

Jeff Horn-Manny Pacquiao decision was correct, independent WBO review confirms

In a statement late Monday, the WBO said three of the five independent judges who reviewed the bout awarded it to Horn, one awarded it to Pacquiao and one scored a draw.

Based on the analysis, the WBO said Pacquiao won the third, eighth and ninth rounds by 100 percent, the fifth round by 80 percent and the 11th by 60 percent. Horn was given the first, sixth and 12th rounds by 100 percent, the second, fourth and seventh by 80 percent and the 10th by 60 percent.

"From the results, it can be established that Pacquiao won 5 rounds while Horn won 7 rounds," the WBO statement said.

Told you so.:bgrin:
