Marcus now the starter for GS

During his conference call with local media today, Chris Mullin (answering a question from my man Tim Kawakami) told reporters the Warriors will be going to look at Shaun Livingston in Chicago tomorrow. He said the workout was scheduled long before the Warriors learned starting point guard Monta Ellis would be out for three months after today’s knee surgery. Certainly, they will be looking on with much more intensity.
Mullin said as of this point, Marcus Williams is the starter. Which means C.J. Watson, who is non-guaranteed and needs to make the roster, is the No. 2. That’s music to Watson’s ears.

You're giving Baron a whole lot more credit than Warrior management did.

They're not that young. Once you give players like Monta and Biedrins mega contracts they are no longer kids with potential. They also have Maggette, Harrington, Turiaf and Stephen Jackson. That's not rebuilding.

Please that is called cleaning up after you make a mess. This team is done. Maggette is overrated. Harrington still has no position. Is he a SF or a PF? yeah Monta (already out for 3 months) and Biedrins got big contracts but they are still developing players in the NBA.

No, apparently it is hard because I now have to spell out the purpose of my post for you.

When Marcus was drafted, I literally jumped around my house because I felt we had finally acquired a capable back-up (and future successor) for Jason Kidd.

After his first season, I did not give up hope for him even though a large portion of Nets fan had.

Once I endured this last season though, my patience had run thin and I was convinced Marcus was nothing more than a cancer who didn't give a crap about winning or his teammates. Once he was traded to Golden State, I let out a big sigh of relief knowing that I wouldn't have to deal with him any longer.

When I read the title to this thread, I couldn't help but laugh. You see, I'm a humorous guy, and the fact that Marcus is starting on any NBA team is funny to me. So I decided to make a fairly comedic response to express my humor and to say what I think Marcus will do as a starter.

Maybe my original post would have been better suited with a smiley.

I'd be happy if that's his line at the end of the season. Really, considering he will probably only cost 2 second round picks that's pretty good. How is he at rebounding his position? That was one of Monta's biggest contributions to the Ws. Aside from Biedrins, Baron and Monta were their 2 best rebounders last season.

He averaged 11.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.3 apg, 1.1 spg in 30.4 mpg as a starter last season. I can't imagine how any of those numbers would go down in Nellie's offense. There will be way more possessions, more fast breaks, Nellie will let him shoot as he pleases, he'll have plenty of weapons to dish it to, he'll probably play more minutes while Monta is injured. I think he'll put up pretty damn good stats but agree that it won't translate to winning.

The Warriors are a better passing team than the Nets. His APG could certainly go down because of that or because of SJax and Maggs working for their own shots.

He could be top 5 in APG this year with enough minutes, but the Warriors are totally screwed if he gets that much time.

The more he looks for his shot, the less effective he and the Warriors will be. I think he'll be shooting a lot.

Livingston has definitely entered the Warriors picture. I mean 2 year 3-4 million bucks. It allows Livingston to show everyone that he can play nightly, fully recovered. GSW needs the depth and he's probably the only FA of talent still out there. I think it's win win for both sides, plus who knows, he becomes GSW's PG and Ellis returns back to his natural 2 guard spot.

Yeah it seems to make sense for both sides. I was never a fan of Livingston but hes worth a shot. All we have right now at PG is Marcus Williams and CJ Watson. Plus like you said if Livingston sticks he'd pair great with Monta because hes a legit point and can defend SGs.
