He said on NBATV that rings are old school and he's been thinking about doing something different. I love it. Will be interesting to see what he does. I love the Mavs. Didn't you love how they didn't dance all over the court and pose for the cameras when they won it? It was like, yea, we won the title, no big deal, just takin care of business. Dirk didn't dance or scream. Just excused himself to the locker room, then came back and graciously accepted the trophy.

He can do belts.

Yes, the Mavs won like bosses. Cuban didn't even accept the trophy from Stern.

They will probably wind up having rings even if Cuban does something else for them.

Cuban's ego is larger than the universe. This is just another pathetic cry for personal attention, which detracts from the attention his players and coaches have earned.

He's not the commissioner, this is not up to him.

He's free to reward them with something else in addition, but I'm sure his players have already responded to him privately that they better get their rings OR ELSE.

Had they one on a last second shot, they would have been dancing.

I love also that he is going to pay for the parade and not make the city do it.

Every NBA team would love to have Cuban as their owner. Money's never an issue for him.

Dirk wants that ring, he'll go into early retirement before not getting one from Cuban.

I always assumed the rings came from the league.

They have to get a ring...WTF is Cuban thinkin?

Dirk left the court because he wanted to be alone to cry. They did plenty of celebrating.

Cuban needs to learn the difference betweeen tradition and old school. No one says win a championship computer chip, or necktie, or car, or whatever he has in mind.

Agreed. In the NBA, the term "rings" is synonymous with and used interchangeably with "titles" and "championships". It doesn't matter what Cuban wants. His players will want their rings.

BNM

Cuban is going to get them "championship whores". You know every guy on that team got two model quality chicks each last night.

I heard Cuban is having watches designed that will cost around $140,000 a piece. This was told to me by someone who knows someone, who knows someone, so I doubt it's true, but that's what I heard.

I'm good friends with the guy that does my job for the Mavs...... I'll holler at him and find out what's up.

Not just in the NBA, BNM. In baseball and football as well. Possibly other sports, they talk about winning the ring.

president of the asshole society apparently wants Cuban to break the law, I guess if you can't get any you have to fantasize about someone else paying for it.

I think it would be awesome if NBA players were playing for championship neckties.

Had they won on a last second shot, they would have been dancing.

With Dirk as their leader, would it have looked like this?

Perhaps they're all getting Championship Prince Albert's?

i bet they are going to get something crazy, over a million each

A package -- Championship rings, goblets, bracelets, chains, and cowboy hats.

I actually think this would be a good idea, being from Texas and all:

Blinged out belt buckle.

Solid gold cowboy hats sound good. 10 gallons of gold.

What would Paul give our guys? 2TB hard drives?

Yes, if the team won the title in 2003. He might consider current technology if they won it this year.
