Just saw this kid Mark Payton, make a spectacular diving catch, in the College World Series (Univ. Of Texas vs. UC-Irvine). Look for this play/catch, it should be on MLB-TV Web Gems of the Day and/or Week.

Notice the reports mention Payton lacks speed...! B.S. The catch I'm referring to, required Payton to travel quit a distance, deep into RF, from CF. A diving catch, and incredible play. If this kid has no speed, then I'm Donald Duck...!

He may be short, only 5' 8", but he IS NOT slow or lacks for speed. A bit stocky, the report also say's he lacks power, that's yet to be seen. Notice in the 2nd link, his B'Avg's, over the years at UT, and his consecutive on base streak.

We won't need him in CF with Jacoby, yet, I can easily see this kid being the heir apparent to Ichiro. Altho' the report says otherwise, to some degree(s)....

Can't believe everything I read....yet, I think they've under-sold this 3rd String All American....!

BTW-Clemens youngest Son Kacy, plays 1st Base for this U of TX Team. A light hitting (.215) Freshman, with a good .992 fielding pctg.

Roger's oldest Son Koby, I've seen play several times for the High A, Lancaster Jet Hawks in 09. A Catcher by Trade, who led the California League in HR's, and RBI's, yet, he never made it to the Majors....(Koby is also a short kid 5' 11", much like Payton, yet did not lack power). Koby is still in the Minors, now in an Independent Lg. @ 27 yrs of age.

Not expecting big things out of any of these three kids, who perhaps can never live up to their Dad's legacy. (Calvin's was a disastrous legacy).

It was a thing of beauty twasn't it...!

He didn't look like Ricky Henderson on the base paths, but his catch in deep R-CF showed glimpses of speed, or he'd of never of got to that ball, eh...?

Roger has 4 sons, correct:

In order of age:

Koby- a lifer minor leaguer, still....@ 27 yrs of age..(IMO, won't make it to t/Majors).

Kory- a Chef in Houston, played H.S. ball that's it...

Kacy- A frosh at U of TX...

Kody- committed to play in 015, also at U of TX....

Damn, did Roger have a fetish with naming his kids after his K's...??? that would drive me crazy, which one is which...?
