i saw this on the news.
But some customers have recently complained to KATU that they’ve grown frustrated with Mattress World and its owner Sherri Hiner, who appears in the ad. The customers said they aren’t getting the mattresses they ordered.

Denise Camacho told us she ordered a new mattress but it didn’t show up for months.

“Nothing. No mattress came, no phone call,” Camacho said. “I called, (they said) ‘it’ll be tomorrow, oh, it will be next week, Wednesday, it will be Tuesday.’ Nothing, nothing, nothing.”

After being first given a defective mattress, she eventually got a good one after seven months.

Customer Jenny Trank said after waiting nearly three months and even speaking directly to Hiner, she still has no mattress.

“They would leave you on hold for half an hour,” said customer Tami Bernard.

Bernard only got a refund after her daughter threatened to wage a public relations war.

“My daughter said the press wouldn’t be real good because my mom is the widow of a fallen law enforcement officer and that wouldn’t look good for the press,” Bernard said. “They had a check for her the next day at noon.”

I will be looking for a new queen mattress in march/april and it will be a pillow top. I just don't want to be ripped off!

To me, Mattress World appears to be the kind of place that consistently jack their prices up 200% -300%, coupled with perma-sales.

I hate that approach.

Well, then you'll be fine if you don't shop there. I know people who have been screwed over there. This has been going on for a few years.

As a side note, she divorced her husband after rumors she had multiple affairs. If you're willing to screw over you husband, I'm sure you're willing to string along a bunch of strangers.

Where did you think she collected all those beds?

She must weigh 250 lbs... Who would fuck that?

Uh oh... I'm criticizing a celebrity female.

Just saw a new TV ad, she is going out of business.

Bought new mattresses in October - went in there, didn't like the deals, so an employee chased me down in the parking lot and offered to cut 50% off any mattress. If they can do that, the price is clearly marked up way too high.

having sold mattresses in the past i can tell you the mark up on them is crazy! most are jacked up around 200-250%. my friend that i worked for would just sticker price his for far lower than anyone else and still made a nice living before selling the stores. always haggle with them, it's like buying a car, never take the sticker price as the final price.

I've heard that her business has gone down hill ever since her and her husband split and she took full control of it. She's behind on payments to local stations for advertising and to mattress suppliers.

If she has an inventory to unload of only a few hundred beds, she'll just keep them for personal use.

wow, imagine thhe State of Washington hitting up an Oregon business for all the past "sales tax" what a bunch of over reaching shit. She will close the show down and be re opened within six months tops. New company, new name etc.

She's going under.
Mattress World, the longtime Portland company with the advertising jingle most likely to stick in your head, will jingle no more.

The 15-year-old company is closing seven of its stores except two -- in Canby and Northeast Portland -- that owner Sherri Hiner said were considered a part of her company but are independently operated.........

Mattress World racked up 10 consumer complaints with the Oregon Attorney General's Office within the past two months. Overall, the company has a total of 21 complaints dating back to 2008.

Longtime Oregon-based bedding and mattress retailer ‘Mattress World’ is shutting down all its stores throughout the state.

The closures will come in Portland, Beaverton, Clackamas County and Tualatin, according to a press release Wednesday from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Two independently-owned franchises in downtown Portland and Albany will remain in operation.

The closures stem from financial issues. Owner Sherri Hines initially made the announcement in a rambling statement on the company’s website late last month.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) reports that Mattress World received 47 consumer complaints against the company over the past 3 years, most of which were filed in the last 12 months. The complaints cited “delivery, refund and warranty issues.”

I'm confused now. Albany, Canby, Northeast Portland, and Downtown Portland? Which ones are staying open? The news isn't getting its facts straight.

Denny needs to hire a private investigator to get to the bottom of this Sherri Hiner and her evil empire.
