Re: My First Ever sig.

Damn good for your first piece. First thing I'd reccomend, is finding some better quality pictures. Your cropping is awesome for a beginner, but that won't help you if your pics are blurry.

Re: My First Ever sig.

This is a better start than the one I made, so kudos to you!

The most general critique I can make is to work on blending your elements. The text block stands out by themselves, the images standout on top of the background, and this in turn is distinctly separated by the red border. Try to make a singular cohesive image.

I'm Using GIMP at the moment as I said and i am brand new to it. I went back and altered it a bit so here it is

Re: My First Ever sig.

I just installed it - You gotta help me man. Haha.

It is a really good program. Not as good as Photoshop but that costs £250-£300 whereas GIMP is free.

Just Experiment, I was on it a good hour to get to know everything and theres still stuff I'm unsure about. The worst bit is the renders if you have to cut your own. but after that making Back Grounds and Text and such is really good fun.

Also Google GIMP Tutorials and some are really good.

Re: My First Ever sig.

Thanks, I'll check 'em out.

Update us if you make anymore!

Re: My First Ever sig.

The text is blurry and it hurts my eyes to read it :(

picture.php

Made this one a minute ago. I'm not on keen on it though.

Re: My First Ever sig.

It's a bit too tall for me, and the front of his face looks a bit faded. I recommend using a hard brush to erase around the image. Rather than hold down the mouse button and attempt to trace it, I find it much easier to use a larger brush and use individual clicks.

Other than that if you want neater sigs I'd work on the layout. Try looking through other sigs around the web and see what you like, and think about incorporating these design elements into your own work.

Re: My First Ever sig.

The Nasri one's quite good, lol at his face though.

Re: My First Ever sig.

those all look very good. better than anything I could do

Re: My First Ever sig.

I like them, but they are huge man. Try making them smaller.

Re: My First Ever sig.

IMO I think your next goal should be on blending these sigs together. Right now it looks like you could take any of your players, any of your backgrounds, and mix and match them without too much trouble. Work on building up a cohesive image rather than viewing the sig in distinct parts (player, background, text)

Yeh I'm really Struggling with Blending and your comment is the most Common one I get. Problem is there a Million Tuts for it on PS but I'm Using GIMP. So I think i need to sit down and search my ass off

Yeh You need to download new brushes and fonts, just Google "GIMP brushes" and a million answers appear.

BTW Rex is the name of the guy the Avatar was for. and the Avatar limit was 100 x 100 hence the tininess of it.
