I know it's MB, but it's all we have from the inside.

Greg Oden continues to impress everyone, and played in about six games on Wednesday
before taking off to a community appearence. A guy who has also been incredibly impressive
has been Jerryd Bayless, and that continued Wednesday. He had several vicious dunks, with
one of them coming off a lob pass, in traffic, from Sergio Rodriguez. . . . .

As you know, there is one roster spot available, and the competition for this spot is going to be
interesting. Steven Hill, Luke Jackson, and Shavlik Randolph all look very good. . . .

And, of course, there's still a chance Portland could decide to extend an offer to Shaun Livingston, who is in town being evaluated. I have not seen this process up close, but I can tell you they're

Nice to hear GO is playing so much without any issues. Great to hear Bayless continues to be aggressive.
 
I notice that in the evaluations I read about the Blazers, Bayless' name keep coming up.

I am going to be the skeptical one here about Bayless (I didn't think it was a bad pick/trade given the Blazers spot). It looks like I'm slowly going to be served some crow mid-season but my thought (based only on summer league) is there isn't a place for Bayless to fit.


I know he is fast, hustles on defense and can bring the ball off and give it to Roy. But I think it takes more than that to be an effective PG in the NBA. Bayless has huge hops and is quick and desceptive when driving to the hoop. But, at least in summer league, he needed the ball in his hands to do his thing. With Roy and Rudy, where does Bayless fit in?

(Boy am I setting myself up or what . . .)
 
Can't wait to see Oden for a whole season. :)

Good players always find a way to get on the court. His defense will earn him minutes and his ability to penetrate in the 4th quarter will open things up for teammates.

I definitely agree. I think Blake is the odd man out, and eventually we will have 3 main guards in Roy, Bayless and Rudy
 
Nate loves guys that hustle (or at least try) on both ends of the court. It might take a while to adjust, but by the end of the season I can see Rudy and Bayless on Nates short list. The both have constant velocity motors and try on both ends.

huh? I'm saying Rudy, Bayless and Roy play the 1 and 2 most of the game. Who said anything about Kobe at SF? We could trade for a better SF or Webster/Outlaw could improve
 
I can't really tell you who told me this, but let's just say a very good friend of mine has been attending these scrimmages. He said that the player who has stood out the most from there competitive fire to his on court action has been Bayless. He gave me a couple different examples, and said this guy is legit!

I've mentioned this on another board, but one of the things I love about Bayless is that he seems like he's a complete jackass. This team is so gosh darn nice, they're like Richie Cunningham, Potsie Webber and Ralph Malph. Bayless brings a little Chachi to the party.

But to remark on Bayless' game, I think he brings a few things to this team that we were lacking:

1. He's an athletic and physical defender at the 1. He has the quickness to keep up with the quicker PGs, but also the bulk to handle the more physical ones.

2. He seems to be able to get to the hoop and finish.

3. His outside jumper keeps people honest when they play him, which allows him to drive more easily.

Although I was thinking more of someone like "Action" from West Side Story. Edgy with an attitude and lots of confidence in a guy who wan't the biggest of the Jets.
