McNabb traded to Redskins??

For a 2nd round pick, and a future (lower) pick.

Are the Eagles mental? Are they just going to run the wildcat full time next season?

This is a good example of why I am losing interest in the NFL. Their brainless, draconian salary cap system causes teams to do things that are suicidally stupid. Teams just bumble from season to season with no stability, no consistency, and apparently no plan.

And Stern wants to do this to the NBA!

McNabb is 33, and the Eagles are rebuilding. He's on the last year of his contract, and doesn't really have a future with the team. That's why he was traded, not because of salary reasons.

Kevin Kolb, a 2nd round pick a couple of years ago, whom the organization is very high on, will most likely take over with Michael Vick being backup (if he doesn't get traded).

It remains to be seen how Kolb will perform throughout the season, but it was the right move to make. The team wasn't going anywhere with Donovan at QB, he's old and he's declining. Eagles shipped him out for a 2nd round pick, and a 3rd or 4th rounder next year. The only thing I don't like about this trade is that we traded Donovan to a division rival, but beyond that, his exit from Philly was inevitable.

Smart move by Philly. Kolb is a quality QB. No real drop off at all for them, and they acquire another pick for this season, which gives them 10 total picks. The only questionable move is shipping McNabb to a divisional rival.

Precisely. Any one of the NFC West teams would have been smart to make that same deal, and Philly would have been better off going that direction.
