I just saw him tonight at Washington Square's EB Games (he was buying a Wii and Guitar Hero), and there was no boot on his foot, just normal shoes. His forearm did appear to have some kind of medical gauze on it, not really wrapped around the arm, but covering a portion of it. I'm not sure what to make of that, but it was nice to see that his recovery is moving forward.

Re: Martell is out of the boot

Awesome news. I wish him the best in recovery. It has been hard to watch him on the sidelines this year when it looked like he was going to have that breakout season.

Re: Martell is out of the boot

I took him to get a new tattoo this afternoon on his arm. Came out real nice!

New tat.

Re: Martell is out of the boot

He was pretty good at Guitar Hero at last night's Season Ticket Holder Party.

Re: Martell is out of the boot

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are addictive.

Re: Martell is out of the boot

The good thing is you can outgrow Rock Band, those tattoos won't look so good 15-20 years down the road.

Re: Martell is out of the boot

So let's say he is healed and cleared to play for the playoffs. If you're Nate, do you give him PT?

...out of the boot and out for the regular season :sigh:

Its official: Martell out for the season.

Its at Oregonlive.

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

Any particular reason why you didn't provide the link???

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

on the plus side, Batum has developed really nicely. probably woudl have never had this chance.....when Martell comes back, he'll be probably on the bench fighting for a spot.

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

Personal opinion, but I think Martel will never have the career he was to. Batum will be our SF of the future.

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

Well there goes the title!

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

Sounds like he could be ready for the playoffs...

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

why mess up the chemistry.....martell will sit out, heal fully and come back strong next year (i hope). he should come back pretty offensive minded after sitting down and waiting for a year (hopefully)

Re: Its official: Martell out for the season.

Merge alert. We already have a thread about Martell being out of the boot and out for the regular season.

Rice is on The Game right now talking about Martell. He just said that Martell isnt like most guys who are injured and out for the season. Most guys vanish, but Martell still comes to every practice, shoot around, etc. Martell wants to come back and play as soon as possible.

I think Martell will still be our 4th option next year offensively. gonna be sweet when he returns. oh well, at least he signed a cheapish contract.

Yea that's a bummer, but I figured he was out for the season a while back. If we could get one more SF type player on the team to put up 12+ points a night consistently this team would be amazingly tougher.

i have never really understood the strong desire to bring in that vet SF. i think between batum and webster our SF position could be locked down for a long time and if you really want a vet to have an impact on the team you bring in a PG. i still think if we do anything in the offseason it's an upgrade at PG rather than SF.

and i agree, without webster going down we probably never see this out of batum.

Never? Cream tends to rise to the top no matter how much 2% surrounds it, and heres guessing a defensive minded coach like Nate would have given his best wing defender a decent shot at PT.

I know some contend that Martell was just about to have a "break through" season and raise the level of his play, but we've been hearing about that every pre-season since he came in the league. At no point in his Blazer career has his defense, ballhandling, and/or court sense impressed me the way that Batum's has. Nic's emergence has made me much more comfortable with Portland's SF spot then last year... hell last year I was hoping they'd resign Jones to be the starter.
