Mets draw 1st blood in NY

...that's a very big "if"...he'll be 36 before the season even starts.

I read somewhere recently that they're bringing the fences in AGAIN at Citi field. Looks like they're going to do whatever it takes to get there over rated 3rd baseman back in HR form.

...yeah, I guess they are betting that their pitching will be better when at home at Citi Field than most of their opponents.

Has anyone left Coors field and played well outside of Larry Walker? By well I mean no more than a 10-15% drop in performance.

Yeah, Wright is also one of those very overpaid players.
He's been the teflon man.

However, I do think this is the year the Mets will be very competitive for a playoff spot.
Smart move moving the fences in at Citi. They still have a couple of dominant strikeout pitchers in the rotation with Harvey and deGrom and it will help Grandy and Wright.
Duda is already a legitimate top power hitter.

Looks like the Metsies will be back in town. Yanks have company.
I would be very excited if I were a Mets' fans.
They also have one of the absolute best CF in baseball- Legares.
Yanks could be on the verge of being "the other NY team". ugh

Coors field is definitely a hitters paradise but there have been others like Galarraga, (Atlanta). Burks (Cleveland & SF) & Holliday in (SL) that have had success away from Coors. I know its a rarity but Cuddyer's a good hitter so although I think his HR total will suffer, his average should still be up there. JMO.

Cuddyer- 36 yr old outfielder in a league with no DH.

As a "semi" part timer/platooner - he should do well.

Cuddyer - 34 year old outfielder in a league with no DH won a batting title.

And I'm sure the Mets are not paying him 10.5M to be a platoon player.

Yep - He's been a "good" ML hitter.

Before he arrived at Coors - avg 13 HR 53 RBI per season.

BA .272 OBP.343 SLG%.451

Coors Field? His 2014 home stats:
80 AB,
BA .400 OBP.455 .SLG%.800

lmao

Seriously you're including his 1st 3 seasons in your average? Seasons where he played in 8 games, 41 games & 35 games. I was born at night but not last night. Unlike you I'll be fair in my averages. Of his 11 seasons in Minnesota he only had 7 seasons where he played in over 75 games & in those 7 seasons his #s were..........

18 HRs, 79 RBI, 274 BA, .344 OBP & a .456 SLG% Of his 2 seasons in Coors where he played over 75 games his #s were............

18 HRs, 71 RBI, 295 BA, .353 OBP & a .509 SLG%

See how different the numbers look when you're fair about. Not really that big of a difference is it?

Okay Rick...I wasn't trying to downplay his career stats BEFORE he went to Coors.
I've already said he has been a "good hitter" for his career, and that was kinda generous... but more specifically, for 2 or 3 individual seasons. lol
Here are his numbers excluding his first 3 seasons with Minnesota.
This is what he's put on the board...and you cannot guarantee how many games he is going to "play" this year.

It all goes into the pot.

Minnesota. avg 17 HRs 70 RBI per season.

BA .273 OBP.344 SLG%.453

Good hitter....not 26 or 32 years old anymore.

And yet at the age of 34 in 130 games he won a batting title. His biggest thing is just being able to stay healthy & if he can do that I think he can put up some respectful numbers for the Mets. I'm thinking somewhere between 12-15 HRs, 70-80 RBI & a 280-300 BA.

First salvo.................to the Mets.

Way too early for Yankee brass.
