Steyer doesn't have most of the many negatives associated with Trump: he's not a sociopath, he's not a fraud, he's not a rapist, he's not a Russian asset, etc.

But he's still completely unqualified to be president. He's rich and he has a big ego. That's not sufficient.

Different people have differing definitions of 'best'. I'm sure Steyer has an entirely different definition than Trump. Who to choose? Decisions, decisions but I'm going to have to go with Steyer since Trump is a blathering idiot as well as a gangster.

Yeah, I'm being a little hard on Steyer, but only because he deserves it. Yes, he is smart, and he's been successful. And he's done some good with his money, too. He's not evil. I think his heart is in the right place. But president should not be an entry-level job. Being president isn't anything at all like running a hedge fund. He's not the best candidate, and wouldn't be the best president. Although obviously he'd be miles better than the current occupant, but so would you or I.

I'm not sure I agree with you're the assessment that because someone is rich enough to do bad things, that they are therefore the problem. The guy who made Minecraft sold it for just over 2b to Microsoft a few years back, was he part of the problem by default the second he sold it?

It seems some follow the philosophy if you are rich you must be crooked. Well, every rich guy isn't like a trump who often shafted contractors and workers along with many other inappropriate dealings as well as illegal activity such as his University and foundation and we really don't know how rich he really is. We had an owner that for many years was one of the richest in the world, but never felt he was crooked.

I understand how it could be construed that I meant, all of them damn billionaires, while standing upon my soapbox. That was not my intention. I was talking about the few that use their wealth and power to corrupt our government.

All I am saying is, I won't vote for people who don't give a crap about America, nor Americans.

If you are referring to Trump, and I assume you are, most of those people were either not "the best" or were quickly dismissed/fired/resigned or whatever....I don't see how Trump's administration can be compared to any other administration.

Just because someone has a ton of money does not by default, make them a bad person or a bad candidate.

I can easily see how someone with a solid business acumen such as Bloomberg can also be a fine national/international beacon...conversely, someone like Trump whose business acumen is very questionable to say the least, is like a black hole that sucks the life out of virtually everything.

Trump is not working for the good of America, that much is glaringly clear. I don't believe Bloomberg will either. Sure he will make better window dressing, but that doesn't do Americans any good, as he looks out for his best interests over that of the Americans who voted him in office (Basically more of the same lip service that Americans have been receiving since Ronald Reagan). I don't see him as being anything more than the opposite side of the same corrupt coin as Trump.

I understand I see the world very differently than the rest of you do. I probably see it differently than most people do.

I honestly dont know enough about Bloomberg to form much of an opinion on him, but I do have similar hesistations. Theres some internal conflict for me do I want some career politician who has perfected the art of screwing over people but sounding great in the process or a business person with all the pit falls that entails.

The Dems don't have a better option at this point, plain and simple. The others are as you put it, are also only giving "lip service." I mean seriously, who among the Dem candidates (not that I would vote that way) are really that compelling?...Bernie, Warren, Biden, Pete?

I believe that our best option is the candidate who gives a crap about Americans. That, for me, is not a billionaire like Bloomberg, who I know are the reason America is in such sad shape with poverty and homelessness on the rise all across it.

It comes down to American presidents not giving a crap about their citizens, period. Their is literally enough money in the system to fix America's problems. Problem is, they don't care to. Greed over humans. Every president elected after Jimmy Carter has been working directly for wall street over Americans. So I have a hard time believing that a wall street president will bite his own hand, so to speak, and work for Americans over their own interests.

They are busy automating American jobs out of existence at a faster rate than any other time in history. Those jobs are not coming back, they are replacing them, mostly with, low wage jobs. Then they turn around and blame Americans for their own situation. The ultra rich and corporations are directly responsible for creating poor and homeless.

Some billionaires aren't bad people of course. But billionaires are essentially modern day kings and such, with the ability to control the lives of those with less power. Sorry, but I'm not okay with relying on benevolent kings.

I really can't understand why people think billionaires are necessary. Capitalism can still exist with less extreme wealth inequality. The richest will still be the richest, with more than the poorest.

I too like Bloomberg but my favorite is Pete Buttigieg. Also, I think Bloomberg has no chance and will just siphon votes from the Democrats. For the sake of our country's survival I hope he withdraws.
