Mike Rice thinks tomorrow is going to be a very big day for the Blazers. He knows something is up.

All of this anticipation I'm going to be completely useless at work tomorrow.

Thank god I'm working out of my home now days. I'm going to actually be riveted, only to be crushed with disappointment. We better get Collison as a bare bones enough to make me kinda excited trade. Really it's gotta be CP3.

Me thinks you are in store for a big let down come Friday morning. The odds are nothing huge will happen. The CPaul stories have set the bar too high for anyone to be satisfied tomorrow. Even if Paul was traded somewhere, I don't see it being done by tomorrow. Late July maybe

He also mentioned something about 4:45 being about the time for the Blazers to be involved. Draft starts at 4:30 yeah?

EDIT:And yeah, I'm agreeing with pinwheel1 to some degree. I'm skeptical about anything big happening, but it's still a fun day.

I would be satisfied with anyone other then Roy, Oden, Batum or LMA for Collison. There are other trades worthwhile like LMA for Dirk or garbage for Nash stuff like that.

For whatever it's worth: Rice closed the interview by teasing their show tomorow by saying something along the lines of "we'll know who the Blazers are going to pick by about a quarter to 5"...

Simple math tells you, draft starts at 4:30, "quarter to 5 = 4:45", which means that Rice seemed to be insinuating that roughly 15 minutes into the draft the Blazers will have picked somebody.

To my knowledge, each pick has a 5 minute timer on it right? That would suggest that the Blazers are somehow going to get the 3rd or 4th overall pick...

Easy enough to shrug off as Rice being Mike "WILD" Rice, but he seemed pretty certain and made multiple references to having "inside sources" and "knew" what was going on...

Intriguing if true, tomorrow could be BIG! (emphasis on could)

Serious question who is worth going after in this draft other then Wall and Turner? Are any of the big men an upgrade over LMA or Oden (when healthy)? Are there any guards beyond Turner and Wall worth a damn? I feel like trading for established players is the move this year.

agree..i'm going into the draft expecting rudy to be traded and that's pretty much it....i don't wan't to get my hopes up for nothing like i normally do

ESPN and NBA.com both are showing 4pm start time. Is that for their coverage or the actual start time?

EDIT: If that's the actual start time Rice's quote puts us at about the 9th/10th pick.

What about Terrico White or Armon Johnson? Thoughts on PG's further down the trade board?

Yeah it's similar to how the last two playoffs I have gotten my hopes up at the start, I even knew it was unrealistic to expect much but ya know, thats just what being a fan is about.

We get too high with the highs and too lows with the lows but it's called passion and I've accepted theres nothing I can do about it.

This Terrico White kid is very intriguing.

He's 6'5" but extremely explosive and with a major vertical he also has a great outside shot. Passing is not his strength, but hey that's Brandon's job right?

I don't see Johnson or White as part of a "very big day". Out of the draft picks, Wall, Evans, Favors = a very big day.

Cousins a very good day.

The rest are just lottery picks that really don't mean much next season.

Coverage starts at 4. Wizards on the clock at 4:30 to my knowledge...

I have a feeling about this kid, just like I did with Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans and Darren Collison. All guys I would have gone after on my draft board, and many of them I was mocked for before the draft.

well, if Mike Rice says something big will happen...

Only to an extent...

Not gonna fall for it. Two years ago, I bought into the "Blazers are going to make a huge splash at the trade deadline with RLEC" and waited for Amare Stoudemire or whatever. Not gonna get fooled again!

Of course, I'd love to be completely wrong this time and find out that this time there's going to be wonderful, messy consummation. Consummate all over the league.

I agree that its not a "very big day", but lets face it that's not likely. I'm looking for gems that might slip. Evans should have gone higher clearly certainly a better pick the Ghost Rubio (I was drooling for Rubio, color me stupid on that). Jennings really slipped further then he should have. Collison same boat.

That's the best way to do it. I mean it not like they need to hit a home run tomorrow. Sure it would be exciting. But having a Roy, LMA, Batum, Oden, Camby, Martel, Miller, and Webster rotation ain't bad if all healthy. They will have their 6 million to spend on another bench player.

I do think Mo Williams is a good possibility if they move Rudy. (a 3 pt shooter for a 3 pt shooter)

Just enjoy the night. Unless one of our main competitors kicks ass. Then we can be all pissed off.

Maybe David Stern will have a career ending heart attack when he reads CP3 to portland. That would be like a championship parade in one moment and yes I would consumate all over the interwebs if that happened.

Well, tomorrow is KP's last day to do anything as a Blazer for if he doesn't do much of anything and perhaps he doesn't have any other big deals on the table as far as trading goes... It is bye bye for him.

My greatest fear is LeBron or CP3 going to a big market team making it an easy case for why EVERY call goes in their favor. Really the Blazers could win 65+ with Oden averaging 25/18/5 and Roy leading the league in PER. In Stern's league nothing matters but his favor just ask Boston. I wish PA would figure that out and wire a Billion to Stern's private account in Zurich.

Is Bayless out of the rotation now, or do you expect him to get traded?

I still like Rubio. I don't know why NOH would give up Collison.

I guess that, in order of what I'd call "big" and "semi-plausible":
1) CP3. Duh.
2) Getting the #2
3) Maneuvering for #4 and Rubio
4) #6 and Steph Curry.

Getting 10 from IND, or 16 from MIN, or 23 from MEM, or 32 from MIA now wouldn't give me a super-tizzy. :dunno: Though if we stand relatively pat (LOL!), I'd like to see us come up with Pondexter somehow.

Even if we pick a guy early in the draft, I doubt we actually keep him.
