Buffalo got a 1st and 3rd too. Blues better win the cup this year, that is a fairly steep price but at least they are trying to improve their team

i think that's an awesome trade for Buffalo. Halak is a good goalie so even he could be traded for more picks in this deadline, plus Stewart plus the other picks / prospect. Good for them. If you're going to rebuild, then do it right.

Both goalies are UFA's at the end of the season. It's only a good deal for the Sabres if they draft the right player.

I read Buffalo now has accumulated 18 1st and 2nd rounders from 2012-2015. They will add another 1st w Moulson. Only matters if you draft well but that's how you rebuild.

Problem is they are using their 1st rounders on Euro trash. That isn't how you rebuild. They totall screwed up the 2012 first round. There were much better options available to them.

I'm not going to bash the strategy. At least they aren't doing it halfway. If they draft well they will be very good soon

Takes more than draft picks to turn a franchise around, even if those picks end up being pretty good players. See EDM...some pretty good players there but as a whole team is just a bunch of young spoiled kids with no accountabolity
