It would be a bit like the NBA paying for Dwight Howard to move from Orlando to LA, while bypassing teams that were in line for a right of first refusal and trade.

Yeah this is bogus, but I'm not so sure the Timbers would have paid Dempsey's reported salary though. It would have been nice to force Seattle to give up a player or two, in order to get Dempsey.

I've always said that MLS will arrive as a league as soon as it stops pulling this shit. I thought we were there already

I agree with this. I don't think we would have forked over the dough to sign him, but we deserved compensation per the "supposed" rules.

Kinda like how I'm slowly pulling away from the NBA because the favortism and preferential treatment given to superstars and their teams by the officials.

The people that run the leagues are killing them for the average fan!
