Morman religion a cult?

I have 2 or 3 friends at my school who are Morman and they say that they are forced to do lots of things basically against there will. They can not have any caffiene, some Mormans like in Utah have multiple wifes and over 20 kids because they want to spread the Morman religion, then my mom said today that Mormans are bringing illegal immigrants to Utah so they can become Mormans and spread the religion even more. Then on NBC I was watching a show that showed a Morman community in Utah. They were ruled by one man who is wanted by the police, but anyways all the females are forced to wear old fashioned clothes from the 1800's and they do all the work. A lady who used to live at the place said her dad raped her many times and stuff all because it was what one man said was right. Anybody else think the Morman religion is a cult?
 
Not really. I know a lot of mormons and theres a girl I know who is mormon and she isnt forced to do anything. Her brother is also pretty cool and hes going to BYU next year. I see nothing wrong with them.
 
Morman can't have any stimulants... that is unreasonable if you ask me.It's a really weird religion, I guess you could call it a cult.
 
If what you say is true about the Mormans, that sounds like a cult to me.
 
Are they like extreme Christians or what, do they believe int heir own god or like christianity's god ?

Basically their view is John Smith supposedly talked to God and he told him to make his own religion following these rules and stuff. I don't believe any of it.

They don't believe that Jesus and God are the same. They believe that Jesus was a god, that Satan was a god, and that the god who created Earth was an entirely different entity named Elohim. They believe in the Bible, but also have a few extra books of their own, examples being The Book of Mormon and The Pearl of Great Price. Joseph Smith is a supposed prophet (equal to Jesus in their eyes, as I understand it) who brought these new teachings to people in America.In my opinion, the religion is a bit cuckoo. There's good people who believe in it, but some of the beliefs and traditions are just nuts. For some of them it's a cult and for some it's not, I'm sure.Edit: Also, if I remember correctly, they believe that after you die that you get to rule your own planet and propagate it. THE BEST BELIEF EVER: they also believe that Elohim physically came down and impregnated Mary to create Jesus.
 
Steve Young is a mormon...It's a nuts religion and people are led like sheep and are not exposed to anything but those are minority cases...like the little communities you hear about on TV...many Mormons are just everyday people.

Ken Jennings was a morman I think.Is it their religion to know all the useless facts on earth?
