For me, the most positive trend has to be the new-found usefulness of Evan Turner. We all thought Olshey was crazy for trying to build a bench around him, but by God it seems to be working! When he's the primary ballhandler surrounded by shooters, it seems to make him into a more efficient, calmer, better distributor. At least so far.
The other major positive is the contribution of Zach Collins. He's easily our leader in +/-. (Of course, Nurk is sadly -15 in 40 minutes, so the fact Zach never plays with Nurk might have something to do with it.)
Having a genuine bench, where we don't have to have CJ play, seems to be really working for us.

Most positive trend? I've been posting a lot this weekend! bada-boom.

I'd make that "new-found nonuselessness of Evan Turner." He's not critical to what we're trying to do. I think the main idea is that if you have to guard our shooting guards who can shoot, our center (Collins) who can shoot, and our PF (Harkless) who can shoot, then you finally have to play honest defense, because you have to actually guard the ball handler, too. Same lineup, but with Curry as the ball handler, we're playing 4 on 5 and it doesn't work. That's why Olshey signed 2 shooters, and drafted 2 more. We now have shooters coming out of our ears.

All the great random thoughts that come into peoples heads and feel they need to create a thread even though is already a thread about that topic threads.

And you reward them by posting in in EVERY one of their threads. You realize this is the same as bitching about what a dick Canzano is, how does he still have a job, I want him GONE, and then clicking on every link to one of his articles, right?

What thread exactly would this go in? The game thread wouldn't be appropriate... around the nba wouldn't? This is a legit thread, fams!

My favorite trend is that the bench unit is actually moving the ball. Getting good shots, Zach, ET, Nik, Curry, Harkless are all getting great looks and moving the ball around with precision, moving without the ball, setting good screens. If the Bench can be good it'll save Dame's legs, so much, he wont get to the end of the year gassed having had to keep the team afloat. Even defensively the 2nd unit hasn't been great, but they aren't BAD either, so that's all good. Overall it's way too early to say it means much, but if the bench continues to perform this well then that's going to really make the Blazers a dangerous team.

Yes sir. This place has been on a downhill slant for the past two years. Keeping the main page squared away might help with that is all.

Can you elaborate on how its gone done hill? Is it the amount of talking about basketball? political stuff? Personal stuff?

Im curious because I see people say how its going downhill and all that but never really an explanation as to what has driven people to think that.

Lol, so its all you?
Im just curious it seems to me the site amd the forums are what you make of it. Ive had a lot of fun on here with fantasy sports, with talking about Zach freaking Collins, the Blazers, Basketball in general. Sure Ive seen some posts that make me cringe a bit, and the off topic side is a little much sometimes. I just dont think its as “bad” as claimed, but I havent been here as long as the others.

to a few who don't recognize their part in things. All good. just keep having fun. It'll simmer down soon. Everything has its waves ya know? Some people get used to things being a certain way and when that comfort zone is disrupted, feathers fly.

Main difference berween this year and last year is the backuü unit is a lot more valuable. Zack is coming into his own defensively, Sauce Castillo and Curry can both score, even Layman seems to be playing with more confidence. I swear, Turner is playing like he used to in Boston. But we will only know how good these guys are till everyhing hits the fan or someone gets hurt.

Until then, I am pleasantly surprised.

I agree about Zach and ET. Their play have been the two most positive developments. If Zach keeps playing like this he’s going to play himself into the starting lineup. I LOVE the idea of this

Dame
CJ
Harkless
Collins
Nurkic

Curry
Stauskas
Turner
Aminu

Leonard or Layman fill the final spot on the second unit, depending on the matchup. Aminu can play center against a lot of second units.

I appreciate what Aminu has brought to the team, but theoretically speaking, Collins brings so much more to the table, on both ends. His development is way more important to the team. If Stotts insists on not moving Aminu back to SF, then he can come off the bench. His minutes wouldn’t change too much. He can play with the starters when Nurkic gets taken out against small ball sides.
