Murphy Out Indefinitely With Lower Back Injury

Sparta native Troy Murphy was supposed to make his Nets’ preseason debut Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers, but the power forward is out indefinitely after suffering a lower back injury.

Murphy underwent an MRI today that confirmed a low back strain/inflammation. He will not accompany the Nets on their upcoming trip to Russia and China, where they will play two preseason games.

Murphy will be re-evaluated after the team returns Oct. 17.
