The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Austin Toros behind a 3-point buzzer beater from Flip Murray.
The Toros took control seconds into the game and maintained the lead for four quarters, but Texas stayed close with the largest lead being 14 on the night. The Legends were down by as many as 10 in the final quarter but made a strong push to the end to tie the game up with 8.8 seconds remaining. Overtime seemed certain until Murray took possession, stealing the victory as the buzzer sounded.
Mickey McConnell led the Legends with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists, shooting 75% from beyond the arc. Devin Ebanks added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists and Melvin Ely and PJ Hairston tallied 18 points each. Courtney Fells powered the Toros with a game-high 27 points while Josh Howard and Murray each posted double-doubles for Austin.
The Legends will send four players to New Orleans for All Star Weekend before heading on a three-game road trip that begins in Erie Feb. 19th. For more information on the team or remaining schedule call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
