Kinda lame for ucatchtrout to not post an update on the situation.

Isn't it obvious what is going on here? ucatchtrout is at the bottom of a lake somewhere, his body weighted down by used oil filters.

Maybe you should change his moniker to troutbait.

I say go TP the jiffy lube. Don't forget to take pictures of course.

UPDATE.

Sorry for the delay.

I took the advice of talking to them first.

The manager lied to me and told me the car was leaking gas upon arrival and said they weren't going to pay for the repairs.

So I then hand delivered a formal demand for the money and asked them to pay for the repair.

They refused.

Then I sent the owner of the franchise a formal demand for the money and photos of the damages. Tomorrow I had planned to file suit in small claims court. But today I received a call from their district manager offering to settle the claim. I met him at the Jiffy Lube, gave him a copy of the receipt for $680 worth of repairs, signed a release and he cut me a check for $680.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions on how to handle things with Jiffy Lube. The sound advice I received led us to recovery of the money we had to spend on repairs.

Now go make a sign saying how they screwed you and picket in front of the store. That way they won't think they can just pay you off and you will go away. haha

edit...well, until they pay you not to picket.

The manager at that Jiffy Lube is a lying cocksucker. He changed his story at least three times to try to cover his ass.

The district manager was very nice. He just wanted to pay me off and settle this thing without any further bullshit.

He apologized. And he paid me. And he didn't screw around.

No doubt he and the owner and their lawyer figured out it would cost more than the six eighty to go to court, where they'd probably end up losing and they were better off to cut their losses, pay me, and move on.

Fricken lying kills me. A couple years ago the mailman accidentally nailed my car when it was parked in front of my house -- luckily in full view of three neighbors. The punk went to my door and pretended to tell me so the neighbors would think he'd done the right thing. I had no clue until a day later when my neighbor said something about my "poor car". After that, it was pure craziness. The mailman refused to take responsibility. His supervisor refused to take responsibility. Her supervisor refused to take responsibility. All of this in spite of the fact I had signed letters from three different people saying they saw the bitchass hit my car. I was mentally getting ready to sue the federal government when an independent postal inspector got ahold of the file, apologized profusely and paid for the repairs. Effing mailman should be booted from the job, but that unfortunately did not happen.
