...^^^ a Po Boy is pretty much a sub...I think its name originated from Louisiana.
with what on it? How is it different other than name and bread?
Yep, Po Boy, is the only term (unless you visit Subway) in Luzianna. A Po Boy is made with a Homeade Yeast Bread Roll, much like a Hoagie, Grinder, or Sub.
You can get anything in or on it you want. My Fav...Fresh Huge Prawns, with a Jalapeno/Mayo Spread. By far the best I've ever had, in my years in Lake Charles...!
BTW- the shrimp/prawns are flown in fresh daily from the Atlantic/Fla. None are supposed to be used in the Gulf, and that was PRIOR to the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill, less a Shrimper went out a minimum of 500 miles off the Coast...yet, those regulations were never enforced, thus one had to insist on knowing where the seafood came from, in Luzianna...! Sad but true. As well the Mississippi, IS the most polluted body of Water in the USA.
As good as any Sub, Grinder, or Hoagie, I've had in the states I've been to, less Minnesota, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska....! I don't count Puerto Rico tho'...!
I tell ya', one cannot beat the food in the South, Great BBQ in GA. and other good home-cooking, Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, Greens, Okra, Black Eyed Peas, Grits, All produce, Pecan Pancakes, Buttermilk Biscuits, Homeade Cinamon Rolls....
Then ya' got the Cajun/Creole/Southern Home cooked 3 elements of Luzianna, a world of its own, where they call you a Yankee if you live north of I-10. Most land south of I-10 is Marshland, swamp, in La. Boy does it get HOT/Humid down there.
Only Fla, can be as Hot, this desert is HELL but at least its usually arid. 105 degrees as we speak, and its only 1:20 pm. We don't use air conditioners here as the norm. New homes have them, but older ones, built only 20 years ago, have and use Swamp Coolers....what the f'ks a Swamp Cooler, I hear soooo often, you don't want to know...!
