Nate got outcoached by TP

I don't usually like to say bad things about Nate, but he was really outcoached last night by Terry Porter. I was a big supporter of TP becoming our coach when they hired Nate, so my oppinion should be taken with a grain of salt. The players said it themselves in interviews after the game. They were confused and didn't know how to attack the zone defense.

I am tired of Nate's odd substitution patterns, and jump shooting offense. I don't believe he is the coach that this team should have now that it is ready to challenge for the playoffs and beyond (in a few years) This team needs some imagination from it's coach to help them succeed.

Yeah he did, but I didn't think it was as bad as people are making it out to be...

Can't wait until we are fully healthy though... Would be nice to add Webster and Oden into that starting lineup... but what happens to Batum?? I say once Webs comes back we move Outlaw to the backup PF spot and Batum to backup SF....

So we have a rotation of...

Blake/Roy/Webster/Aldridge/Oden
Sergio/Rudy/Batum/Outlaw/Przybilla
Bayless/Frye
Diogu/Randolph

This would be my dream rotation though...

(Rudy) (Batum) (Outlaw)

I like that 8 man rotation, and we can use Joel in spot minutes if needed... but when Odne goes out we can go small w/ a Bayless/Rudy/Roy/Travis/Aldridge line-up (That would also probably be our 4th QTR/end game line-up in my dream situation).

Fully agree, his second half player combos were simply awful and he stuck with what was and who was not working way too long

Nate simply doesn't react and adapt.

He has a plan before the game, and if it turns out to be the wrong plan for what's happening on court, doesn't matter to him. He simply continues, hoping the other coach will accomodate him by changing, which is retarded thinking.

More alarming is that our players, as a team, are baffled by the most basic facets of the game, zones, pick and rolls, double teams, and boxing out.

It's like they've never practiced together.

We have enough talent to win 41 games each year in spite of Nate, but since when did 41 games become our goal?

If Martell was playing that zone would have been exposed. The fact that they kind of deflated in the 2nd half was due in part to the back-to-back situation. This is exactly why I would have liked to see the subs in sooner.

Martell wasn't there. Starters were tired, AS EXPECTED, Nate refused to react and adapt, hence the accurate thread title.

I think the difference, for me anyway Grouch, is that Nate doesn't altar during games. That's what great coaches do. Nate has a plan and sticks to it regardless. In LA he should have seen Travis wasn't being very effective within the offense, but didn't. In PHO he should have seen the team was relying on dribbling and shooting too much against the zone. A zone is really easy to break if you pass through it. It's simple basketball.

I think you were trying to make a point but actually reinforced the issue.

Some people zig when others would zag.

Nate seems to always go against what logic would dictate.

I vote for Leonard Nimoy as our next coach bitches!
