Coach of the year, I don't care what anybody says! Before the Admiral's eyes we torn down the old ship, the SSPURs. What San Antonio wouldn't give for a young star forward like LaMarcus!

i think coach of the year needs to go to rick adelman. dealing with ron artest, having tmac in and out of the lineup before finally losing him for the season, battier missing the start of the year, trading away the starting pg midseason, and still being in position for homecourt in the first round? sounds like coach of the year to me.

Sorry rocketeer this is a fairy-tell story, were gonna Roll into the playoffs and blaze the doubters a new one!

Adelman is not a bad choice, but I would give it to Nate. Youngest teams in the Playoff's. Improvement of about 10 games over last year. Also had injuries to deal with. Many coaches deserve it along with Nate, but I am hard pressed to think of someone who deserves it more. How many bad streaks has this team broken this year?

This young Portland team has an old soul, they wowed me with their composure tonight in Texas. Nate has progressed their experience level pretty handily and it shined tonight baby!

Rick and Nate are both very good choices.

NBA.com did a poll a few days ago and Cav coach Mike Brown got the vast majority of the votes.

TEXAS is a big state. The Rockets are a storied franchise, they are always expected to dominate. WE, on the other hand are underestimated due to our in-experience, meanwhile were playing at the level of a top tier team. Thanks to Nate and co that is. .

Yeah, Mike Brown did a great job of coaching LeBron.

Being the second youngest team in the league and possibly getting HCA in the first round is COY in my opinion.

You know I have bitched a lot about Nate over the years. But I have to say, look at the record. Impressive. They have got better every year, and perhaps in years past, the problem was the players just weren't that good.

I like nate for the most part, but I do have 2 main issues with him that come to mind:

1.) our lack of switching on pick and rolls

2.) his tendency to pull our big guys to soon (in my opinion) and not use all their fouls.

The second one isn't a huge deal, but I can't see how a coach can win COY when his team doesn't know how to defend the most common play in basketball.

Both Chris Webber and Gary Payton had McMillan as COY on NBA Gametime last night on NBATV.

Adelman. No question.

I'm still not sold on Nate. I think you could let most anyone coach a blossoming Roy and LMA to 50 wins this year.

Easy to say, impossible to prove. Same could be said about Adelman, it's not like he doesn't have any talent on his team, a vet team.

Choosing Nate would follow the pattern of the last two years, when Byron Scott and before that Sam Mitchell were chosen, each for turning a young team with potential into a division title winner. While Nate probably won't win the division, if the Blazers finish the season with HCA that should be good enough.

Adelman took a playoff team back to the playoffs. Yay. Oh, and he's got the same record as McMillan.

Yeah? What about the rest of the 23 year olds on our roster? And in the western conference? Your comment is ridiculously wrong, IMO.

I've been frustrated with Nate a few times, and have questioned him. Over the last month of the season, I'm willing to *gasp* admit I was wrong. Completely. What the Blazers are doing right now is a byproduct of Nate's job as our coach.

Once the coaching staff help teach Greg how to play without fouling (and the damn refs learn to not call BS fouls on him), we're going to be scary. SCARY.

craigehlo is waay off. Bottom line is it wasn't for Nate keeping this young team on track through the ups and downs we would not be in the middle of this playoff race. .

LMAO so wrong it made me laugh. Scared the wife and the cats with the laughter.

if that's all you can say about what adelman's done this year with the rockets, you haven't been paying enough attention.

nate is a decent candidate for coach of the year(definitely in the top 10, probably top 5) but it's not like the blazers weren't going to be better this year. the stars are entering their 3rd years and the team added a ton of talent to the roster from last year to this year(4 first round picks).

Do you have any idea how many close games we have won? How many times we've been down and out but Nate kept us in it and on track!? We crushed the Eastern conference as a whole despite having tough road schedules and we've had more comebacks from large deficits than anyone! Yes Roy is an Allstar and has strong chemistry with his supporting cast but none of it would come together for 50 wins without coach Nate Mcmillian at the helm. Bottom Line. . Coach of the Year. .

yes, i absolutely have an idea about all of those things.

and it is a very legitimate question to ask if it's more roy's doing than nate's.

like i said, nate is without a doubt a top 10 coach of the year candidate and probably a top 5 one. but i can't put what he's done over what adelman has done.

Good for you. . Repeating the same thing you've said before. Therefore I'll follow your lead. .

Nate is the Coach of the year, I don't care what anyone thinks!

you presented things to me as if they were "new" and that i did not know them. i was just letting you know that i did in fact know all of them but my opinion on coach of the year is the same.

It's fine to say you aren't sold on Nate, but there is no question in my mind you are selling him short on what has been a historic performance out of an insanely young roster. Winning with 3 rooks in the regular rotation and a pair of third year leaders just isn't done. Name me one (available) coach who could have gotten this team to fifty+

I thought we needed to fire Nate?
