and then gave it to Wallace in front of the entire team.

The bad news is it had "Bench Mob" printed across the front of it.

Nate wearing a headband today to practice is per Jay Allen of 95.5 The Game.

That's funny right there.

Bench mob I'm not to sure about though....it could be the only one he found....i hope

Did he give it to Wallace?

I love Nate. I feel he has really matured as a coach while here in Ptd. He is still the strick sarg that commands respect . . . but also seems to be growing more confident and comfortable with himself. He seems less stressed out than he used to be, IMO.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Nate this summer. I'm afraid he is going to pull a Lebron/Bosh/Amare/Carmello/Garnett . . .and chase a big market team with a good shot at winning the title. Time for PA to dish out the cash, again.

he is definatley loosening up, but our offense is still remedial

I think he started the "no headbands" rule because it was sort of a symbol of the Jail Blazer era. Since that era is long gone and pretty much forgotten, Nate probably figured this is a good opportunity to loosen up a little and trust his players.

I'll be curious to see if anyone else wears one. Patti would be my first guess.

I think if they all wore one....as a unit for wallace it would be cool. Especially since Nate wore one to give him. Funny also if the coaches did....at least through warm ups or something

You must not follow this team. The Blazers will have nothing but Respect for G

That sounds like a nickname one of the jailblazers would take.

Guess we're going back to the dark ages. *sigh*

And that would be cool if the whole team wore a headband. I remember the Raptors doing it back in the early 2000's.

I made a point of driving up for the game for the primary purpose of cheering and welcoming Wallace to the team for his first stint as a Blazer. I was surprised when he didn't wear the head band, since Nate had already said he could. I inferred a lot from that. What I inferred was that he wanted to be part of the team, not do anything different, not get special treatment. To learn that Nate reciprocated by first wearing the headband, then presenting the headband in front of the team, I don't know, I think that is just awesome. That's a team. That's a family. As a welcoming gesture, you can't get much better than that.

so wait... can Wallace only wear a headband? or can anyone now?

Of course he will start (at some point). You don't acquire a player like A. Miller...err...G. Wallace to have him come off the bench behind a lesser player. :)

I think Wallace makes more sense off the bench, so he could come in and play the 4 initially, coming in for Camby, with Batum staying at the three. Then, Camby can come back in for Aldridge, and if we had a PF, him too. But I much prefer Crash at PF to Batum, so his flexibility in that regards makes me prefer him off the bench. That and Batum's shooting to start the game, outside for Aldridge. But, I want Wallace starting next season for us, if we hopefully acquire more players to play up front.

My respect level of Nate just went up a notch. Very funny gesture.

I think Nate did this to loosen up Wallace and the rest of the team. You could tell they were pressing in the Atlanta game. Hopefully it has the desired effect tonight.

I would have felt better if Nate had come out wearing knee pads and then passed them out to everyone on the team.

alright thats cool, talk to you guys later.

Be Easy man. All anyone heard is a story on the radio about how it went down. It's not like Nate signed contracts with the players about a dress code policy. Only time will tell on your question.

He should tell the players that anybody that makes an All Star team is allowed to wear a headband.

That's what I'm talking about.
