I think the addition of a tough little guy named Nate would bring a tenacity, a toughness to this team.

Use Sergio and Frye to pull a sign & trade scenario with New York and bring in the little bugger! I think he'd make a significant difference to this team.

Package up whatever else (Blake #24 & #32) to move up and obtain DeJuan Blair so that we have a banger to replace Frye's absence (well, I guess he was pretty much absent when he was a Blazer!).

Robinson / Bayless / (best TALL PG available in the second round)
Roy / Rudy
Batum / Webster / Outlaw
Aldridge / Outlaw / Blair
Oden / Pryz / Randolph

This should preserve some cap space for re-signings and we keep Travis or Webster as a "trade-deadline pawns" if he's his old self. The 2010 trade deadline may be where we get that "big piece" in a fire sale. [as in Travis or Webster plus 2010 1st Round pick for the likes of Jaimison from Washington or Prince from Detroit....someone that will add some veteran leadership down the stretch, if needed]

Oh sorry, I thought this was a word association game about Mr. Sonic.

I like lil Nate, but I don't think he is the player we should be targeting.

That's a pretty funny post. Let's start a PG that Damon could post up and the back up be a player that has yet to prove he deserves the minutes.

I suppose we could just go back to losing 50 games per season.

Wow you really think that bringing Nate in would lose us more games? I disagree.

I like lil Nate. I like that he is friends with Roy and Martell. He wants to play in Portland. He is from the North West. All those things fit in with our culture. I wouldn't lose sleep or worry if we were able to get him for Sergio and Frye. But I wouldn't do a back flip.

We can do better then that. I kind of would rather have Blake then Nate.

I'll grant you that he can be an offensive spark plug off the bench at times, but he doesn't run a team and he shoots too much. His defense is 110% non existant. I just can't see that as our starting PG. It's clearly a few steps backwards.

Starter? Absolutely not, but if we acquire that starting PG whether it be Andre Miller, Ramon Sessions, Conley, or Devin Harris and all our backup PGs are gone ala Bayless & Blake, lil Nate would be terrific off the bench.

+++++++++++++

By way of of some self-defense on this idea, allow me to expand upon these thoughts:

We could most likely have enough cap space this summer to add Ramon Sessions and/or Andre Miller. In my scenario above, I'd go with Miller - simply because we'd be losing Blake and having a bit of veteran leadership would be helpful, for sure.

Miller / Robinson / Bayless / (Roy)
Roy / Rudy / (Robinson)
Batum / Webster / (Outlaw)
Aldridge / Outlaw / Blair
Oden / Pryz / Randolph or perhaps a Cole Aldrich out of Kansas (one of our second round selections - and perhaps a future Pryz-type)

Our "possible" weakspot remains at SF. Although if Webster makes a nice return and Batum matures..we've got one of the deepest teams by far....with plenty to play with come mid-season trade deadline, if necessary.

RECAP:

We get this done by seeing only Sergio, Blake, Frye and picks go. This is "tinkering" not "major overhaul" work. But look at the change in personality and depth.
