Oregon was so damn close. Even with the weight difference between Meeks and Boucher; Boucher would have been the difference that would have won us the title.

Jim Boeheim lost 100 wins because the AD made improper tutoring favors available without telling him. The NCAA isn't just a bad spot on an apple. The entire fruit basket should be thrown out.

North Carolina won the game. The scoreboard doesn't lie. But I couldn't help but feel that America lost. Lost, because this tournament has the potential to make the hair on your neck stand on its ends. Lost, because when you cut the NCAA basketball field from 351 to 68 to 64 to 32 to 16 to 8 to 4 to 2, you figure you're going to get a couple of bulldogs fighting over the last bone.

NCAA referees are part-timers. One of the three on the court on Monday works in Providence, Rhode Island as the director of parks. Another is a realtor in Denver. The third is a Princeton grad, who must be officiating because he loves it. The wish here isn't that angry fans should hunt these guys down and run them off Facebook. Be better than that. Rather, my hope is that officials on a Monday night aim to never be the lead topic of discussion on Tuesday morning.

Don't forget the 20 something thousand each player got as well for tuition, room and board. All the women they could want. The alumni perks. The ones responsible for Williams getting his bonus will play pro ball somewhere, and earn millions, all because NC taught, fed and let them live free for as long as they want until they graduate.
