Need to learn the game relatively quickly

I was just named adviser of the women's rugby club team at the University I am working at.

I know the basics of the game from attending several matches over the past couple of years, but I am pretty sure I should know more than the basics. Could someone point me at a good resource for learning about the game? Its two weeks before our first match, which will be the biggest and will determine whether or not we make the playoffs.

Watching rugby will get you a good idea of how the game should be played, but if you're trying to get the basics down I would just do a google search for "rugby rules" (I'd say most of your results would be Union), or look it up on wikipedia. The game isn't terribly difficult, but there are nuances you should know, for instance when you should kick the ball straight out of bounds, and when you should make sure it bounces first (based on where you are in relation to your 22m line).

That's what I'm looking for. I've been going to the matches on campus for the last two years so I get the basic concepts. Its the stuff I need to know to do more than casually observe that I need.

heh, well unfortunately that's the one rule I can never remember LOL, I guess that's why I play prop.

This is probably the most detailed you'll get by the looks of it. (Note how it's for Women's Rugby, although there is no difference in rules)

Thanks again for the tips. In case anyone was wondering, the ladies lost 16-7 to our main rival. On the bright side, no one got injured.

Hope is not lost as the top two in the division make states. Also, due to NYS Rugby rules, if we win our next match by 75, it negates the loss as you get three points for the win and one more point for each 25 you win by.
