It's official. With their loss to the Mavericks last night, the Nets are now in sole possession of the worst ever record to start an NBA season at 0-18.
But new top assistant coach Del Harris sees a lot of similarities between these Nets and the team he and new Nets head coach Kiki Vandeweghe had in Dallas when Mark Cuban first assumed ownership. And with a new ownership change coming soon for the Nets in Russian tycoon Mikhail Prokhorov, Harris likened the situations.
"Kiki and I were together in kind of a similar situation -- not quite this bad -- when I started a few weeks after Cuban took over the Mavericks," Harris told the Star-Telgram before last night's game. "We had 20 games left and we ended up winning 15 of the last 20 games and then the Mavericks have averaged 55 wins ever since.
"At this point, it looks like there's going to be an exciting change of ownership [with the Nets]. And we've got young guys, like the Mavericks did. So we're just hoping we can have a healthy impact."
