Nets look forward to making a trade

This is turning out to be a painful trip for Rod Thorn and the Nets.

First, Vince Carter injures his back in Utah and aggravates it against the Clippers Wednesday night. Then Thorn has to sit and watch the Clippers stomp the Nets, 90-77 - a particularly agonizing sight for the Nets president, since the No. 1 pick he owns from Los Angeles keeps plummeting in value.

I knew that there would be talks about trades. I mean from people saying the Nets would of went 4-0 and they 0-4. I agree some changes need to be made.

The Nets need another scorer, preferably a low post threat, but any scorer would be just fine. The Nets just aren’t the same team when Carter isn’t scoring 20+ points. I think the problem is the Nets are becoming too reliant upon Carter having a big game. Check out this stat: In games won, Carter averages 28.1 points, shoots 47.1% from the field, 37.2% from downtown, and 85.1% from the stripe. Now, in games lost Carter averages: 18.8 points, shoots 39.5% from the field, 33.3% from downtown, and 78% from the stripe. As you can see, the Nets are way too dependent on Carter having a big game every night to win. They’ll be times when he’s not feeling it or injured and the Nets don’t seem to know how to deal with this. They’re a solid defensive team, but not a great one, so it’s not like they can always rely upon there defense to win games. I don’t know what available player they can get through a trade, but if they don’t take care of this problem soon, I don’t think they’ll go very far in the playoffs.

Could there be something with Stromile Swift from Houston brewing? By the way, I really don't understand why Nets don't play Marc Jackson more. In Philly, he was a pretty good low post player and had a nice jumper. The only knock on him was his rebounding, but since the Nets just need a better low post threat, why not him?

Very much agreed but it is going to be nearly impossible to find a low post scorer. If a team has a guy that can score in the paint consistently in this day and age, no way are they looking to give that up. The only way a team would be looking to part ways with that type of big is if he was a complete team distraction, like what Utah has felt about Boozer, or something like that.

The Nets are probably going to add a defensive bigman and if they do get another scorer it would likely be a perimeter guy, someone to fill in the role that they figured they would get from McInnis and Lammond Murray.
