If Carmelo Anthony agrees to an extension with the Nets, the team will try to acquire D.J. Augustin as part of the four-team deal.
New Jersey will send Devin Harris to the Bobcats as part of the package for Anthony and will therefore have a need at point guard.
Charlotte has been reluctant to include Augustin, but whether or not he is traded is not believed to be a deal-breaker for New Jersey.
