Sean was not kicked out for the reason that he sucked.

He still lost his senior year of college basketball. Thats a year of leadership lost, and a year of development lost.

He had already played for 15 games, and his full college season has only about 27 games. Not the big difference, the develop in the NBA is more important.

anyways...i think we'll just have to wait and see when the season starts. i've learned it's not always a good idea to start making predictions and get excited about things before the season even starts.

I'm hoping the Nets will win a championship, but i'll wait to make my opinions known on whether or not that'll happen until the season is under way.

You are right, Peg.

Marc Stein also says that trading RJ and Krstic for JON would have been a great deal for the Nets, so why give any creedence to anything else he writes?

I was wondering how this thread got to 5 pages. I see now...

What we have here is an excellent opportunity to restate opinions we've already beaten into the ground. So I will:

Vince Carter is a very talented player who'll never care enough about the game of basketball to be as much as an asset to his team as his contract might presume he would. Having a winner like Jason Kidd helps negate that, and having a #3 option as talented as Richard Jefferson does as well. The net result of this is a team that will likely make the 2nd round, could possibly make the ECF, and will never win a championship.

Sean Williams is exceptionally raw. It is very unlikely he will make a big impact this year, in the same way it was unlikely that Krstic would make a big impact in HIS rookie season. With that said, we have added assets - Jamaal Magliore, and a year more of experience for Boone and Marcus chief among them. Boone had an excellent rebound rate last year after missing a good chunk of the year to a knee injury. Point guards improve dramatically with experience, so we can at least except Marcus' decision making to take a big leap forward. Between Collins (moving to the bench for Magloire), Williams and Boone, we can certainly except a better bench than we had last year. We're still a second-round team.

The biggest concern, in my mind, is injuries. We're a dark horse title contender with everyone healthy, but it just doesn't seem likely that this will happen. It's more likely we're a second round team.

Bottom line: I think we should trade Carter. This isn't going to happen. We'll lose in the second round. I make a sad face.
