Nets to Draft "Two Energy Guys"

Stefanski recently scouted possible second-round picks or summer-league invitees at the Portsmouth Invitational tournament. He'll travel to Europe next week to see last year's second-round pick, Mile Ilic, and scout other players.

Waiting on Ilic

Ilic may not play for the Nets' summer league team. He is expected to get an invite to the Serbian National team's training camp. Ilic wants to join the Nets next season, but Stefanski said no buyout talks have begun with his Serbian team, FMP.</div>

Maybe package the two first round picks, a bench player(s), plus cash for a lottery pick, and get lucky with Tyrus Thomas? I'd risk it. I think he'd be able to develop nicely along with the team, and if the transition for him is quick, then we can see that fastbreak style basketball that we all miss.

Tyrus Thomas would fit in perfectly with the Nets. It would be like Kidd and K-Mart again.

I'd rather draft NBA ready guys like Randy Foye, Brandon Roy, or Tiago Splitter. I'm thinking that Thomas would probably be a bit of a project.

I do like the idea of trading for a lottery pick and I think a few teams will trade for it since it's not a very good draft class. I don't think Brandon Roy would be a good fit as you guys already have one of the best two wing players in the league. I think Tyrus would be the most perfect fit if you win the lottery.

If you don't trade for a lottery pick, then I'd go after a PF that can extend out into the perimeter and maybe another pointguard.

Dee Brown is a great energy guy, I would love him ont he Nets. Tyrus Thomas seems like the next Stromile to me, he is just too raw and unpolished.

Maybe so, but Tyrus, unlike Stro is a hard worker.

If the Nets trde into the lottery I say Shelden Williams, a strong big man who will give us a solid power forward. He will be a great shot blocker and great rebounder.

Shelden Williams would be a legit PF from this year's draft, perhaps a big improvement over "defensive" Jason Collins.

This year's free agent class is thin, so perhaps the only hopes of getting a legit PF for your team is via the draft.

Coming out of college, many thought the same of Stro.

There is no one in this draft that is worth Vince Carter. The draft is stock with role players...it's one of the weaker ones in recent memory.
